Re: MY CYBERHOME 1600 DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE DVDS.
Maybe a suggestion. I have been copying all my tapes to DVD. I did not finalize in the machine that it was made in, so it won't work in any other. My first cyberhome broke, so I had to go and get another cyberhome for it to read in it. (my problem is that I lost the remote and I can't get the universal to work. Good luck! you may need to find another sony and finalize it.

There is nothing to look onto the power chord of any type of eletronic equipments. Choose a good quality one, with more strands inside its core, that is all. More the strands, the capability of the power chord increases. Look for a good wone which have enough flexiblility to its insulation. Usually MX is the better if you get. IK.
i have had this problem time and tim again with the cyberhome dvr 1600 dvd recorder its not the fuse thats the problem the converter on the power board is blown i have 7 of these with exactly thesame problem to fix it all you need is a new power board if you unscrew it and take the top off then the power bord is to your right hand side big long board where the mains plug in all you do is once you got a new power board unscrew the old one and screw the new one in and plug the cables back in boo it works and by the way i had 7 of these plugged in when lighteing struck and its the same problem with them all
Start by checking the DVR format compatibility list, see if the dvd format matches. The check DVR settings for playing features that can be adjusted. Try other DVD's that have worked on your DVR previously.
I had a similar problem about 2 years ago, if not exactly the same. At that time I was able to call Cyberhome and got a helpful person on the other end. He explained to me that some brands of disks do not record with the 1600. He told me to use Verbatim disks (+R or +RW of course). I have had no problem with the unit at all since using Verbatim disks. I have also found that Imation works well also, at least the +RW's. The unit will not format a Maxell disk. Hope this helps.
