How to connect 2wire 2700 as a wireless router

Connect your computer to the 2Wire modem with an ethernet cable so the modem may be configured. Wait about 20 seconds after connecting the cable from the modem to computer (so the PC can obtain an IP address) and then open Internet Explorer. Once Internet Explorer is open, type "192.168.1.254" into the address bar and hit enter. This will bring you to the modem's web interface where you can configure its internal settings.
Click on the "Home Network" tab on top and then click on the "Wireless Settings" sub-tab under that. This is where you can set your WIFI settings. Your Network Name (SSID) will be 2Wire### by default. Record this because it is the name of the network and what you will select when connecting your PC to the wireless network. Be sure to check the box to enable SSID Broadcast, which will make it easier for you to connect to later. Then check the box to Enable Wireless Security, followed by choosing your authentication and encryption method. You can choose to just leave the default security (WEP-Open) and your wireless network key (aka, WIFI password) will be a ten digit number printed between the brackets on the S/N sticker (located between the 2 bar codes). The other method would be to choose WPA-PSK authentication and use a custom key (must be 8+ characters). If you're not advanced, I would just use the Default with WEP-Open... though some techs would disagree with this security, this will provide you protection and you'll always have your wireless key printed right on the modem for easy access. This key is the second thing you should record (the first was the network name [SSID], since you will need it to connect your wireless devices to your network.
Your wireless network is now set up and secure. Just connect your device(s) to the network by choosing your network name in the View Wireless Networks utility of your device and enter the Network Key (network password) when prompted. Done!
I hope this helps. If you need clarification on anything, do not hesitate to reply to this post and I will explain in further detail. If you found this helpful, please leave a great rating so others may be helped by this answer too!

I need to find my att dsl internet security key to sign on wireless my moden is a 2wire 2701hg

Open INTERNET EXPLORER and. (In the URL address field), enter the IP address for your wireless router ( the DEFAULT GATEWAY. This information should be contained in your router's manual. If you cannot find it, enter "198.168.1.1" as the address. This is usually the default IP address for most routers.do not type "www" just the number
Enter the username and password for your router. This should also be supplied in the router's manual. If you don't have this information, go to routerpasswords.com and find the brand and model of your router. This site lists the default login information for most wireless routers you can try "ADMIN" for user name and "PASSWORD" for passsword.
You should now be able to see your wireless router settings. You can configure your network ports, as well as SSID (wireless network name) and passwords.aka security key
?

If this was helpful, please indicate so, if not -comment back so we can dig further to resolve this.

Pls i need 2wire299 wep key

The WEP encryption key is configured in the wireless router.
Go to the router's wireless configuration to view this key and you can then configure the wireless card with this encryption key.
If you cannot see the key you can setup a new encryption key and the configure the wireless card with this encryption key.

How do i connect my wii to the internet?

try following this wireless troubleshooting guide This error code usually indicates a problem relating to wireless security. Please try the following troubleshooting: Are you using WEP or WPA security on your router? Log into the router using the default IP (consult your router's manual for assistance) Locate the "wireless security" section of your router settings and find the WEP or WPA key. If you are using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 10-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. If you are using 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 26-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. The WEP Key must be a Hexadecimal (0-9, A-F, no other special characters or letters). If your router has multiple slots for a WEP Key, make sure the active key is the one in the #1 slot. If you are using WPA, the Wii console is compatible with the following types: WPA - PSK (TKIP) WPA - PSK (AES) WPA2 - PSK (AES)
If your WEP or WPA key is correct, then the problem might be related to MAC address filtering: From the router settings, locate the "MAC address filter" settings (also known as "access control", "access list", or "network filter" depending on your router model). If the Mac address filter is set to "enabled", then you must add the Wii's MAC address to the "allowed" list. You can locate the Wii's MAC address from the "console information" page (located under "Internet" in the Wii Settings). If the Mac address filter was disabled, then continue troubleshooting.

Check Nintendo's router info for special notes, if available, for your router. Click here to go to our Wireless Router lookup page. Use the drop-down box to select, if available, your router manufacturer. Click on your router's model number, if available. Read any "special notes" at the top of the router's page. Many issues can be solved by changing settings described in the "special notes."

Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings: On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run." Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.

Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. Try to connect the Wii console online and test for proper response. if you require further assistance please let me know and i will be glad to assist you. -Midwest-tek

Trying to coonect to ndsi butcant find wep key

If you don't know the key, and you don't have a computer that has the ability to display the password for the wireless for you, the only other way you can retrieve the password is by plugging in directly to the 2wire, logging into it, and either getting the password as it is listed by the 2wire, or resetting the password to something new.

My 2wire router will not connect to my nintendo ds wifi system.

The DSi only works with WEP encryption. The 2Wire and most other newer routers use WPA encryption.

Simply logon to your router with a web browser. The default IP for it is 10.1.1.138 but it might be different, just check the manual or internet for the IP. Go to "Home Network" then "Advanced Settings" and change the security from WPA to WEP and save.

Thats it!

Hope that helps.

Adding another computer to network

You can have 4 PCs connecting to your 2 wire 2701hgv or 2700hgv wired or wirelessly. Make sure the DSL light and the internet light is green and lighted up
For wired connection, just plug in the RJ45 cable to the ethernet 1,2,3, or 4 and the other end of the RJ45 cable on your laptop LAN card or network adaptor
For wireless connectivity, SSID is 2wire followed by the last 3 digits of the SN(or serial number) and the WEP key is located at the bottom of the 2wire modem in between 2 bar codes in square brackets. If the WEP key and the SSID was changed before in the modem page, go to the modem page and see what is the latest SSID and WEP key using RJ45 cable connected
