Partial Solution
My Tomtom xl 30 (if it has not been used for a few hours) takes up to one minute of holding the power down to turn on. ie a reset!

Hi :My Tomtom does not start from the main push botton. My tomtom kind ONE XL.S

Assuming you have pushed the ON/OFF button, and had no success .... and have also pushed down and held down the ON/OFF button for a few seconds ... up to a minute, and your GPS still does not turn on ... then, you want to make sure the battery is fully charged before you try to start it again.
Note that it may not start while it is plugged in (to a power source) ... because it uses the battery as the primary source of power.

Plug the GPS device into the charger (wall adapter or your USB computer port) ... to charge the battery for a few hours... preferably more, like 24 hours or more. Then try to start the device again.

Go720 will not turn onbattery charged and plugged

charge it for a few hours via the usb cable to your computer, then press and hold the power button for up to 15 second.

if that fails, let me know and i can give you a few other options to try, but this work 99% of the time if the unit hasnt been damaged in any way.

Green light on but will not switch on

plug in your xl via the usb cable to your computer and let it charge a few hours, then press and hold the power button for up to 15 seconds.

do not use the car or home charger to intially charge your xl. they are to maintain the battery, not a rapid charge.

let me know if you need further help.

Tom Tom suddenly won't turn on. It is 2 years old. Has worked with no problem. Battery continually charged as I drive. Used re-set button to no avail. Need today for a trip!

plug it in to the usb cable to your computer for a few hours, then press and hold the power button for up to 15 seconds or untill it starts.

after it starts run tomtom home and get the latest updates for it.

if you do not have tomtom home, you can get it HERE just follow the directions after you download and install it on your computer.

I have not used my tomtom for a few months , an when attempting to use it today , it was dead . nothing at all help tomtom xl

connect it to a power supply and leave it for a few hours A battery that is totally depleted will take some time to recover and not show that it is even being charged as power is too low to light the LED.

It will require a full charge of about 10 hours to get it fully back into service. But the LED will ( or should turn on) after about 1-2 hrs depending on the condition of the battery. If after the charge the battery does not hold a charge lasting on average about 2 hrs , then change the battery.

My TomTom1 xl wont power on. I have changed the fuse in the power adapter ,but still nothing. Is there a reset button ? Thank You !!

plug the unit into your usb cable on your computer and let it charge for at least 2 hours, then try again.

if that fails, the reset is on the bottom of your Xl (little pin hole) but make sure remove the sd card and you have let it charge for at least 2 hours before trying to start or resetting the unit.

TomTom won't turn on

Try holding the power button in for about 15 - 20 seconds to see if it comes on, do this whilst plugged into a computer or your car.

Unit (tom tom 1xl) turning off

One hour is about the time the unit will run without a power source.

You need to check that the cigarette lighter is working. Check the car fuse.

Check the fuse (one of the six bumps) on the cigarette lighter plug has not blown.

Is the cigarette lighter / Tom Tom lead damaged in any way?
