I am trying to connect to Internet with Netgear N600 adapter on my Dell Inspiron 580 without luck. We have a wireless router, the N600 adapter works on another computer but not my desktop Dell. Why? what can I do?

Did you input the WEP key? I will assume you are using Windows XP. So go to control panel, network connections and then go to the wireless connection and then select view wireless connections double click on the one with the highest strength, which should be your 2wire. When it asks for the network security key type in the numbers that are located on the sticker on the bottom of your router between the [########] brackets.

So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.
Good luck

There is no switch on an Inspiron 2200. I would go to Dell's website and download the drivers for your model # and then uninstall the existing adapter. then try installing the new driver and let me know what happens.

It is still possible that it is infected
whilst AVG and S&D are good I dont know of any security product that "does it all"
I would reccomend "superantispyware" and "malwareantibytes"
http://www.superantispyware.com/index.html
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
download them to a usb drive and install them to the affected computer and run them
Set any setting to scan as deep and as many items as possible
It is also concievable that a virus or trojan has taken over some of the network settings and possibly the "HOSTS" file
Another program to download and run would be "hijackthis"
http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html
That program can save a log file which can be posted to particular web sites. On these sites are people who know how to disect that log and tell you what to remove and how.

Thank you all for your efforts. I did disable the firewall. I talked with Netgear and it turns out that it would not work until I had removed the installation CD! Amazing the instructions did not say to do so. Anyway, all is fine on my system now, BTW, I hadn't mentioned it was a Windows 7 OS. Thanks.
