I just got my zen two days ago, and this morning when I turned it on, it loaded up normally, but then the screen shut off. I can still listen to the music, and the video audio, but the screen won't turn on. On the top, the led light is constantly flashing.

First back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and make sure it is disconnected from the computer. Then press and hold the play/pause button and turn it on simultaneously. It will then enter recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format and it should work like normal. If it freezes again, then you may need a firmware update.
It sounds like the hard drive is damaged I have a archos 605 wifi it froze up on me so i turned it off and turned it back on and it wouldn't load pass the archos welcome screen come to find out my hard drive was damaged.Hopfully yours is still under warranty otherwise you'll have to send it in and pay to get it fixed but i would say the hard drive is damaged.
Are you positive that your battery has enough juice in it? This happened to me as well, almost went bonkers only to find out that the battery is almost dry. Try popping the charger for half a day, or leave it in your USB for about a day and see if it helps. If it doesn't help, then you might want to try the Recovery Tool
I have the same problem .. But i found a trick ...When you have a blank screen. 1 you must listen music else press play until you listen it 2. flip the switch on the side to lock position 3. press on buttom the next tune 1-2 seconds 4. you will have a black screen ( you listen the music again) 5. flip the switch on the side to normal position. 6 the screen appear ok now..
7. else repeat ( most time once is ok but sometimes 2 or 3 times)
