Question about Gateway Performance 1400 Notebook
Computer tries to boot up and as Windows XP tries to start, I get the blue screen of death and it starts to reboot. It continues to try and reboot and I finally have to do a hard shutdown to turn the computer off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Your Master Boot Record is corrupt. It's the first file after POST that is used to load your operating system. One way to fix is to boot your computer from the original Windows disk. Let it run for a few minutes, it will seem like it loading but it really is not. Eventually you will get to a point where the CD will ask if you want to install or fix. Choose fix. Let it do its thing then reboot. If that does not work let me know there are a couple of other options. If you want to do your own research google "Corrupt Master Boot Record".
