Simple! I solved this problem by connecting my Sansa m240 to the computer, Double-clicking on the Sansa icon opens an icon named TCNANDO. Right clicking on the TCNANDO icon opens a menu including "Format". Double-clicking on "Format" deletes everytg from the MP3Player. Of course, make sure that, before you format, you save files you want to keep. When saving files to your Sansa, make sure they are not Read-only files.

When you connect the MP3 player to the computer's USB port, the computer detects thia as an external storage device.
When you click on this and open the drive, you may see a music folder or mp3 music files. To delete the mp3 file you want remove, click on the mp3 file to highlight it and press the Delete key on you computer to remove the mp3 file.

You may not be allowed to delete certain files by using the player controls. Try deleting them using whatever music management system you are using right from the screen menu while your player is connected.
