Changing ink instructions canon MP240

With the printer on, open the paper output tray. Then lift up the scanner unit (with the document cover closed). Make sure the support is holding the scanner unit. Then wait until the cartridges move to the replacement area. Pinch the tabs together to open the cartridge locking cover (it just rotates up). Then remove the cartridge by pulling it towards you. Prepare the new cartridge - remove it from the box and remove the orange tape. Do not touch the electrical contacts or the print nozzles.

Slide the new cartridge into the cartridge slot (color on the left). Then close the locking cover - it should click into place. Make sure the cover is correctly closed. Lift the scanner unit to disengage the support and lower the scanner to close it. Wait for the printer to clean the new print heads before sending a new job to the printer. (It will finish printing a job that was in progress when the ink ran out.)

Note: if the scanner unit is open for too long, the cartridges will move to their home position. Close the scanner unit and reopen it.

You can find pictures of the procedure at Canon's support site: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp240#ServiceAndSupport . Searach for replace ink cartridge. Altternatively, go to the Brochures and Manuals page and see the manual.

I hope this helps.
