I had the same problem with my whirlpool LER5636. It was a power problem. My circuit breaker was fried (one side delivered 120v the other 26v). The dryer itself was fine. Check the breaker, the dryer outlet, and the connections where the dryer cord enters the dryer.
I replaced the breaker and all was well.
Good Luck.

Dryer will not shut off and not heat only way to keep is to leave door open

Dryer will not shut off:
The timer: Located in the control console of the dryer the timer consists of a small motor connected to a series of gears that rotate cams, which turn electric contacts off and on inside the timer. The timer contacts control the dryer motor as well as the heat circuit and the timer motor itself. A defective timer motor or a defect in the timer's electrical contacts can cause the timer motor to fail and the timer will need to be replaced. The contacts can be checked for continuity with a multi-meter. This test should only be made when the dryer is unplugged. Another test u can do is observe by eyesight and see does the timer advance or is it stuck on one cycle?
1. On gas and electric dryers that have an "Auto Dry" cycle, the cycling thermostat is often used to advance the timer as well regulate the drum temperature. Essentially, thermostat will alternately turn on the heat source or the timer motor when the temperature has been satisfied. To check this thermostat, you will have to check for power to the timer motor with a multi-meter, during a cycle. This is a live voltage test and caution should be used.
2. Some dryers will use a cool down thermostat to tumble the clothes without heat, at the end of the dry cycle. Power is routed through this thermostat to the drive motor to keep it running until the drum temperature has dropped to a specific temperature. If this thermostat fails it can cause the drum to turn indefinitely or until the door is opened. You can check the thermostat for continuity with a multi-meter. This test should only be made with the power removed from the dryer.
Lastly check the moister sensor for OHMS according to ur schematic as it must show a certain amount of ohms as per ur unit. When unit has been on short while

Lg dryer dle7177 cutting off during cycle

I had a tumble dryer that stopped working and after much investigation it turned out to be an internal thermostatic switch and lots of fluff around the internal filters. ( Mine had 2 of them 1 would cut the heat and kick back in when the temperature dropped and the other one would completely cut all power rendering the drier non usable until cicuit breaker thermostat was replaced. The reason they cut out is to prevent overheating and possible fire. When the thermostat gets to certain temperature it breaks the circuit. Apparently you shouldn't stop the drier until it has completely cooled down as there will be too much heat which could cause a fire, which is why most drier cycles have 10 minutes of cool/ non heated air at the end. So in conclusion I would take all the filters out and give them a good clean and try to avoid opening the door while there is still a lot of heat in the drier. I'm not sure if this will help but its a starting point.

Dryer drum is turning, but not drying the clothes. When I open the door, there is heat. Lint has been cleaned out

Check where the dryer vent comes out and make sure that there is a good amount of air coming out. If the fan is blowing, the drum is turning, and there is heat, the likely thing is that the dryer vent is partially blocked. Check the pipe leading out. Bird's nests are not uncommon. The only other thing I can think of is that the door catch is wearing out and the door is popping open, shutting the dryer off mid-cycle. Some dryers will continue to run the timer if the cycle is interrupted and it will appear that the dryer ran its full cycle, but in reality it shut off soon after it started.
