Question about SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player

Screen shows white snow and parallel color lines only

When I turn on the device it shows white snow initially and then changes to paralellel color lines. Pressing any of the buttons has no effect on the display. I found a procedure for reformating the device on your Fixya website and tried it in deparation and it worked. I would enhance the reformat procedure to simply say.
1) Attach the device to your computer
2) When the window pops up click on the folder
3) Right click on the PPI Nand folder of your device and select Format.

Good show! Reformatting doesn't usually solve a problem like that, since it is usually hardware-related. But, good to know!

So i turned my ipod on this morning and about a third of the screen has these lines of color going down it, there is a dent at the very top of the screen and a crack going across part of the screen, it...

What happened is the LCD has cracked. Normally the molecules in an LCD are lined up parallel to each other. When an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) breaks the liquid between the two sheets of display glass spread causing the molecules to loose that parallel orientation. That's where you get the colorful display. You can press on an LCD and cause this to happen without any damage (though I wouldn't recommend it to often).

Second explanation.
Rainbow bright has a thing for you and she left you a "Rainbow Message" on your Ipod. She just hit it a bit too hard with the "Rainbow Wand" ":)......

As long as you don't care what it looks like then don't worry about it. In ten or twelve years when you spend all the money you saved by not buying the next greatest gadget to come out on a ski vacation in Whistler/Backcomb. You can call all your friends and ask them "HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW"?
Before you buy a new one just remember to look around on-line for used or replacement parts for yours. They are out there and with a little bit of effort you can change out your screen.

I have an Ipod 6 gig mini that has parts to three different mini's in it. (Hey I'm a little hard on my gear. Plus working on a solid plate steel floor doesn't help.)

Hope this helps.

Droped iphone, screen is only white, touch screen works.

put it in DFU mode while connected to the computer. to do this, hold the home and power buttons for 10 seconds and then let go of the power but keep on holding the home for 10 secs. the screen will be black and nothing will show up. go to itunes and click on your ipod on the left. then click restore. this should work.

White screen, have to do a soft restart and then words show up

I have had this problem recently myself and would like you to know that it is possible to fix. The white screen error or otherwise known as "white screen of death" is caused by the lcd color screen on the ipod itself. That is why its functions still work but the screen does not. Once you replace the color screen it will be as good as new.

1) Hold the power button (slider) in the on position for about 15-20 seconds to force the player to turn off, if it's already on.

2) Hold the menu button down and simultaneously hold the power button (slider) to the on position.

3) Do not let go when the device turns on. You will then get a screen message in black and white that reads (with a typo):

WARRING !!!

NAND FLASH MEMORY INITIALIZE......

"WARRING !!!" will appear in red (and probably should read "WARNING". You will have the options of "No" and "Yes".

4) Choose "Yes" to re-format your device.
