Re: HP DV6000 Does not power on?? Can anyone help?
If it falls under the warranty just call it in. but if it does not I,ve fixed three already with the same problem. Its caused by overheating, on most its the power cable( a thin 5-6 inch flat golden-brown colored cable under the keyboard). You can find replacements on ebay for 5 to 12 bucks. when you open your laptop there are 2 of these under your keyboard one for the power and one for the media panel. just replace both since these are known to be defective. On another laptop, the thermal paste on the cpu was replaced, solving the problem. once youve done this update the bios (to the new version f.4) you can download it from HP support, so that the fan speed control, will be changed to basically an always on mode. That will prevent this from happening again.

Re: HP DV6000 Does not power on?? Can anyone help?
Check the power adapter with a multimeter, it could be faulty and therefore not charging the battery and the battery is flat. There would be a LED that indicates the laptop is charging when connected to the mains power.
This fault could be caused by faulty RAM (module) or it is not making proper electrical connection. Reseat the memory module a few times, if it still does not work then you possibly have faulty RAM (memory).

First try to reset the battery to see if it helps any by doing the following: Turn off all power saver settings on your laptop, disconnect the laptop for the ac adapter. Then use your laptop and run the battery down ignoring any low battery messages until it dies. Then let it fully charge for a night without turning it on, and see if it has saved any charge. If it still hasn't saved any charge, it seems like the only option is that its a dead battery and needs to be replaced. Best of luck!
there is a motherboard issue with this model. hp did offer a free repair on the motherboard. If you still have warranty, then you will need to contact hp to get your laptop motherboard repaired. they also offered an extended warranty due to this problem, you will really need to contact them ASAP so that you don't loose out, cause the motherboard replacement cost is around $600USD.
Solution for HP Pavilion DV6000 Battery Not Charge
Reinstalling the power management software has just fixed it for me. Go to device manager and under batteries, unistall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery. Go to Actions on the menu bar and select ’scan for hardware changes’. It will reinstall it and hopefully start charging immediately (mine did anyway).
If your HP Pavillion dv6000 has a battery that won’t charge yet still turns on when plugged in, turn off the laptop and remove the battery then wait for around 30 seconds, re-insert it and turn it back on, the charging update should say, plugged in, charging.
Just got it to charge again. While the laptop is powered and in Windows XP, press and hold the POWER button until it dies. Then, remove the dv6000 laptop battery. Power it back up and enter Windows. Then, re-insert the battery.
So I always remove the Hp dv6000 battery after I have powered down the laptop, and I have not had any battery problems since then!
I had the same issue my fix was a new cmos battery that was only $10.00 and install updated bios software from HP
I had the dv6000 battery problem where it showed my battery NOT CHARGING. I took it apart because my QUICKPLAY would not work either and the QUICKPLAY lights stayed on even after I shut down the laptop. I found that the black ribbon cable on the right (the other looks the same but you can see it is for the power button) was slightly kiltered in the flat socket it goes to underneath the area where the quickplay button is. I straightened it out and made sure it was pushed all the way in and locked and put it all back together and everything worked perfectly after that. About a month before that my POWER and SOUND didn`t work. I did the same thing to fix those problems. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THOSE CABLES EXACTLY RIGHT in there, IT MAY JUST BE YOUR PROBLEM TOO.
Some people dont realise that you should avoid short charges and discharges, if your batery does not go above 40% mabe its charge memory thinks its full. to fix this problem let the batery run fully down, then charge it all the way again. try it a few times if it doesnt work. and you have to go all the way, not let windows go into hibernation. to do that you need to get the batery low, then boot to some boot disk and let it sit till the batery dies.
HP has posted BIOS updates to address battery problems as well as the auto startup on some.If you will post the full model number, someone can help you find your driver/updates page.
I have had the same issues with my HP dv6208 laptop. I ended up sending my laptop in at their expense to get it fixed. My suggestion to you is to go to the HP support website and chat or call them. The dv6000 series laptops had several issues with the MB and wireless card. they should replace the failed part for free even if the laptop is past its regular warranty. HP extended the warranties on several of these laptops in this product line because of the failures. You have to tell them the serial number, product number and model and they tell you wether it is covered or not. Otherwise I am pretty sure you are looking at a new motherboard for your laptop. Hope this helps...
