Try a program called PowerDVD. Or look for a free DVD player program. Windows Media Player has problems playing DVDs sometimes (not to mention a host of other problems) so I always recommend another program for DVD viewing.

There is no sound, dvd picture is clear

You failed to mention the player type. Is it a computer/ Laptop or a standard DVD player? If you are referring to a computer/ Laptop, check to see the player is compatible - able to play the file format (video and audio) Standard Windows Media Player sometimes cannot play certain file formats. Try a different application... eg. VLC or DOMM etc.

ALL CD's or just one CD? Depends on the file format and the Media Player. Have you tried another Media Player? Does the CD work in another Computer? Did you make the CD? What is the Media on the CD?

DVD drive not recognizing audio-visual Cds except audios only

My gut says that the software used to view the vidoes needs to be updated to a version that supports the latest video codecs. My guess is that you are trying to view .mp4 files but the player can only play the audio portion.

If you are using Windows Media Player, then either get the newest version or try an alternate video player like VideoLan VLC or Media Player Classic - Home Cinema which support more file formats.

I have this message apprear on my laptop when i try and play sound "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device...

try playing the sound file with other media players, if still not playing reinstall ur audio driver either by dowloading the driver from internet or by installing it from ur driver cd.
if ur audio device driver is integrated or plug n play device then,
step 1:open control panel
step 2:open 'sound speech and audio devices'
step 3: in the property menu of audio devices select drivers from the tab
step 4:select uninstall driver.
step 5: restart ur computer and the audio device will be reinstalled.
if it is the problem with ur windows media player, then step 1:select option/preferences from the menu.
step 2:select devices from the tab.
step 3:test all the devices by selecting each one at a time to play ur sound file.

How to burn a dvd from an acer laptop

The laptop should have come with CD/DVD burning software preloaded. Acer's specs page for your model says it comes with NTI Media Maker. The program will have help information available to guide you through, and you can find more help online. If you just want to write data files onto a DVD, the process typically is not much more than dragging files to a layout window and telling the program to burn the disc. This gives you a way to back up data, or to store movies in formats you can view on a computer (AVI, MPG, etc.).

On the other hand, if you're asking how to make a video DVD that will play in a regular DVD player like a commercial movie, maybe with features like menus or scene selection and such, the process for making that kind of DVD is more involved. You need some DVD authoring software. NTI may offer that capability, but I'll admit I have never looked.

In most cases, the software that comes preloaded on computers is a limited version of some commercial product. The computer manufacturers get paid to include the program, and the software company hopes you'll buy the full version when you discover the limitations. If you don't want to pay for software, there are free, more full-featured programs available for downloading.

For general CD and DVD burning, I use CDBurnerXP. To make video DVDs, I use a program called DVDStyler. Both are open-source, meaning they are 100% free to download and use, and they both offer a lot of features.

iTunes can no longer find my CD burner. Using a gatewayM-1631U laptop, with windows 7 x 64 home premium edition. (See additional details below). I use iTunes regularly, and as recently as Xmas 2009 was burning music CDs frequently on my laptop. Yesterday I attempted to burn a CD, and iTunes no longer recognizes the installed CD burner. I have not installed any programs to my computer recently, or made any other changes. Today I began investigating the issue. I have tried (not in order) the following - and have not solved the issue: 1. Going to the registry editor and deleting the lower and upper filters associated with the H_KEY_LOCAL MACHINE/SYSTEM/CURRENT CONTROL SET/CONTROL/CLASS 4DE3695 .... 2. Uninstall and reinstall iTunes (9.0.2.25) 3. Repair iTunes 9.0.2.25 4. Looked for updates for the drivers (can't find any) 5. Downloading Gearsoft products I admit that I have not tried Windows Media Player (because I'm committed to my iTunes - I sync with my ipod all the time and listen to it alot). I also realize I may have made the problem worse by some of my attempted fixes. Here is the information gathered through itunes diagnostics: Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Edition (Build 7600) Gateway M-1631U iTunes 9.0.2.25 QuickTime 7.6.5 FairPlay 1.5.23 Apple Application Support 1.1.0 iPod Updater Library 9.0d11 CD Driver 2.2.0.1 CD Driver DLL 2.1.1.1 Apple Mobile Device 2.6.0.32 Apple Mobile Device Driver not found. Bonjour 1.0.6.2 (118.5) iTunes Serial Number 2987488CE609EDAB Current user is not an administrator. The current local date and time is 2010-02-05 07:50:22. iTunes is not running in safe mode. Video Display Information ATI Technologies Inc., ATI Radeon X1200 Series **** External Plug-ins Information **** No external plug-ins installed. iPodService 9.0.2.25 is currently running. iTunesHelper 9.0.2.25 is currently running. Apple Mobile Device service 2.50.39.0 is currently running. **** CD/DVD Drive Tests **** No drivers in LowerFilters. UpperFilters: GEARAspiWDM (2.2.0.1), Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2380. Error while opening iTunes CD driver. This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly. Additionally, the device driver says my DVD/CD unit is: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7563A ATA Device Anything else you need to help me figure this out? Could really use help and advice. Thanks in advance.
