Alienware Area-51 Desktop PC No Video. Long Beep.

When I turn on the computer it doesn't seem to boot up. I get no video output. And the system beeps. Its will beep for about 6 seconds then pause for 3 and continue to beep again. It also makes a buzzing noise (louder than normal) that appears to be coming from the rear fan, but I',m not sure if its related. I have tried moving my RAM into different slots but had no results.

SOURCE: Alienware Aurora Desktop does not boot, has no HD activity

If the activity light on the front of the tower is not glowing than it can be an issue with the power supply of the PC. Try to open the tower and try to reseat the Power supply cables and check.
You can also try to Reseat the RAM (memory) sticks. If you have 2 Memory stick you can just try to boot the pc with the help of one stick and vice versa. If still the issue persist you can try to do a test on the Motherboard. Simply take out the Memory cards and power on the pc . if you hear a beeping noise than the Motherboard is fine and if you dont hear a beeping noise that it is a faulty Motherboard.

You should try cleaning all the fans inside your PC once in a while.

Fans, especially in your video card would spin faster whenever you used the video card performance by playing online games that rely on graphics.

It is very normal. What is not is the annoying sounds you are hearing. It should not be. These sounds is cause by dirt accumulating on your blowers and fans. Just clean and the annoying sounds will go away.

SOURCE: My Alienware M11X R2's screen broke completely off. I thought I could just hook up an HDMI cable and use the base with a monitor but it keeps beeping... and the video wont show up on the monitor.

Do you mean that the hinges broke and the screen is no longer attached to the laptop. I googled ' Alienware M11X R2 screen' and one of the first results is a story from PC World which contains:

"Dell will repair broken hinges on any Alienware M11x system for any R1 or R2 customer worldwide regardless of warranty status," wrote Dell's John Blain, in a blog entry on the company's website.

Alienware Area-51 Desktop won't boot up long beep

The fan to the left of your RAM slots needs to spin, it may be the reason for your problem. If this is the CPU fan then you may have a dead CPU.

Contact a computer technician for repair or claim warranty support.

Take care!

I have an Alienware desktop. Up until recently it was running semi smoothly (every couple of days I started it up it would just stay at the windows start up screen and not load). Other than that it was...

By the sounds of it, you are having an issue with the motherboard. I had a similar issue once and this helped:

-Unplug computer from power source
-Hold the power button for 60 seconds
-Open the case and remove the video card and RAM. Then remove the battery from the motherboard (the small disc type battery)
-Put the battery back in, and reseat the RAM and video card.
-Plug it in and start it up

If this doesn't help, you can also try replacing the battery on the motherboard. Of course, if/when you get to desktop, be sure to update all the important drivers (display, video, bios, etc).

''Missing Operating System''

Hi Duncan,
Check if you have a CD in the CD-ROM drive or a USB drive plugged in. Suspect your PC has been set to boot from CD first or other devices (for older PCs possibly floppy disk) before booting up from the hard disk which is usually the last in the order of boot up.
