Question about GE PSI23SGM Side by Side Refrigerator

Open Question

Hello and Merry Christmas to ya'll. I have a GE SideBySide refrigerator with SS Door panel cover and IceMaker. The water line that runs from the bottom hindge up to the dispenser broke. The stub is to short to fit a snapon. I need to replace the water line from the bottom of the freezer hindge to the water dispenser. I do believe that the best way to do this is to remove the door, remove the ss door panel, remove the dispenser unit to be able to reach this line. Is this the only and best way to go about it? or is there any other way . Any manual or suggestion how to go about this? My GE refrigerator is a PSI23SGMCBS thanks Luis

SOURCE: water dispenser line leaking at bottom of freezer

if you have enough room left you can just cut out the hole and go to any hardware store and pick up a water line coupler and repair it....if it is too short or broke up inside the door then you need to remove the water/ice dispenser and pull the line through and run the new one down the track.

SOURCE: Rust ruining door at lower corners of ice/water dispenser.

when you dispense ice or water, you are allowing the drip tray to overfill and the water builds underneath the tray until the water reaches the point were it will leak down the front of the door. the water will rust the panel beyond repair. you will have to replace the whole door at this point. hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a GE Profile

I removed the control panel (2 tabs under the front edge) removed the 4 screws holding on the paddle assembly and removed the assembly. The disk is glued on the back( I used super glue). If it happens in the future I would try to glue it on without removing everything. If you use a mirror you can see the detent where the disk mounts to the paddle and glue it back on. The disks function is to push on the switch that is located behind a gray rubber panel behind the paddle.

SOURCE: Bottom hinge on GE side

there should be a disconnect behind the kickplate under the door, also a disconnect for the wire harness too.don't cut anything,i've found people cut the wires and then had to replace the door for this.if for some reason there isn't a disconnect there remove the hose from the water valve but there's a disconnect there.pop off the kickplate and you should see it

SOURCE: Hello, I have a GE

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
The icemaker is 110v
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

GE gss22sgrf sidebyside water dispenser does not work, ice does

these unit have a problem with the water line freezing inside the freezer door. ge makes a tape style heater that goes inside the dispenser area to give just enough heat to keep it from freezing the water line.
you can try to change the freezer settings, warmer, clean the coils at the back of the unit and leave the freezer door open for 20-30 minute to allow the door to warm up and that will be a temporary fix to allow water to flow until you can get the heater kit.

We accidently left the freezer door open during the entire night and now icemaker doesn't dispense on monogram refrigerator, even though ice maker makes ice.

you might want to turn the whole fridge off (remove the food to a safe place) and let the fridge defrost, wipe any water up and retry. If it is under warranty, call GE

Ice maker not filling but getting water at door

First have your hubby pop the white cover off the front of the ice maker. He will see a white gear type wheel. Under the wheel to the left will be a few holes. Take one wire (insulated) from meter and jumper across the two holes one labled "T" and the other labled "H". HOLD... the gear wheel will begin to turn. Hold wire and wait till you hear a "click" sound. Note: look at the little notch-"blue" on the wheel. It should rotate all the way around (2 minute cycle) and come back to its orginal postion where it should fill with water. Rotates and gets stuck= bad ice maker. Rotates around and no fill=replace water valve....GOODLUCK & rate me high please!!!!!!
