Question about Insignia IS-LCDTV32 32 in. Television

Faulty dvd player in the combo unit insignia

Anybody else have a ingignia 32" flat screen tv/dvd combo player that will not play a disc? my player seems to have a mind of its own, and 99% of the time a dvd will not play. At first I thought it was the disc but incredibly a brand new player is not working. Is it worth taking it in to fix it ?

If enough people complain there could be a recall. I have maybe played a dozen or so movies and it went haywire...

I bought mine at future shop in dec of 2007.

    DVD player will load and then it says loading for awhile and then the DVD movie pops out and says disk error on tv screen. I've tried several different movies too. Brand new just got it hung up on the wall.

    I have a 19" TV/DVD combo and I have tried about 30 different dvds and only 2 work. Every other disc gets a Disc Error and ejects. I have only had it for about 3 months.

    Anyone got any ideas how to fix it?

    Mine is a NS-CL26C. I asked Insignia a few times while the unit was still under warrantee about what they would recommend and their advice went from: unplug the unit for awhile, use a disc cleaner, use a laser reader cleaner disk, try another disc... all of which undfortunately ate up the rest of the warrantee time. So now I am faced with A: paying someone half of what the tv is worth to fix it or B: buy a dvd player component. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    In response to the listed solution. I got my Insignia TV/DVD combo in the US from a store in South Jersey. I see the Insignia brand all over the Northeast US. I purchased virtually all the DVD's I tried from either one of the Best Buys in the area or a local Target. The DVD's are fine because they work in every other dvd player I have put them in. The problem is solely with the fact that this DVD player seems to **** out a few weeks to a few months after it is purchased.

    What a bunch of goofs, eh? "Try another disc.." No kidding, Sherlock!


    According to Insignia's website, this unit was sold exclusively to BestBuy Canada. Is that where you got it? Two reasons for that question:


    1. If you bought it online, they may have shipped you one from another area,

    2. If you live somehwre other that North America, or

    3. All the discs you're trying to play are from outside North America.



    All that boils down to one possibility that isn't your DVD player being dead, and that is somehow you got a unit with a DVD player that isn't set for your particular region. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_lo... for more info.



    Other than that, I know it's a pain, but it's a lot cheaper to buy a $40 DVD player than struggle to make this one work. Pain in the ****, I know, but at least you'll be able to play movies.

I have a JVC TV/DVD combo and the DVD stopped working


This is a common problem with DVDs. You must not leave them idle for such long periods. Second, you must always leave a disc inside the player. It protects the optical lance from dust. There may be some dust deposit on the lance or the loading rubber belt may have gone lose or the spindle motor which rotates the disc might have gone slow. But to solve this problem you will need a qualified technician. Good luck.

Just got an RCA TV from a friend. It is the 32 inch DVD combo. The DVD player isn't working. I can slide the DVD in and it will attempt to play it but it can't seem to read it. Does anyone know how to fix...

Insignia 26 inch TV/DVD Combo produces strange odor when on.


You should never have an acrid or burning smell coming from electronics. I'd return the unit, if that is still an option, as it is about to fail.

The VHS tapes will not playback on the Samsung TV (flat screen)..the Samsung TV is a Syncmaster 2333 HD...the Samsung dvd/vhs unit is a DVD-V9800 The DVD discs will play just fine. How should I be...


On these combo units, the VCR will not play using component cables but the dvd's will play just fine.

What you need to do is run a pair of composite (Yellow, red and white) cables and use that for VCR and component (Green, blue, red, white and red) for the dvd player.

Make sure you switch the tv to the corresponding input.

Get someone technical to open the unit and clean the laser lens with a swab of eyeglass cleaner and also clean the rails that the laser runs on

you must do a optical head cleaning on the unit, could be the optical lens was dirty thats why it can't read any disc inserted.
