Open Question

Sony CRT TV audio and video flickers after warm-up period

TV works immediately for 2-3 minutes then picture and sound together go in and out. Has worked perfectly since purchased new in 1991. No previous repairs.

Sony rinitron 27" picture is perfect then fades to snow and snaps back to perfect picture again. It just keeps repeating over and over. The sound cracks when it goes to snow then back to perfect when the picture is fine. I have a 32" trinitron with power problems as well. It seems these tv's are destin for problems at some point. I will never buy another one after this.

SOURCE: Picture and sound go away after 2 minutes

Protection circuit fault kicks in. No vertical Deflection (V STOP),B+ over voltage protection (OVP), This is about a $150 -$200 to fix.

SOURCE: Sony triniton 28" crt tv i have got sound but no picture

Any set can be repaired it is the question of the cost and the availability of the parts.

The fuzzy lines with static noise is probably from an arcing in the high voltage multiplier or in the flyback windinngs. I am very sure that the flyback assembly with the high voltage multiplier, and most likely the horizontal output transistor will have to be changed just to start. It is also possible that there may be some failure in the power supply as well.

The set would have to be serviced by an experienced TV tech. As for the cost, it will be a bit expensive.

My CRT TV displays a single horizontal white line across the screen. It will flicker and try to display the picture. If you smack it you'll get a quick picture then back to a line. After about 10-15...

The single line means that the vertical deflection doesn't work. And since it is working when you kick the tv or has warmed it's clearly a bad connection - open the case and reseat the wires going to the tube coil.

Sony tv model KV32S42 picture taking forever to come in

Speaking as a retired SONY dealer, the short answer is probably yes. There are some repairs an authorized SONY repair center can do but if the tube is displaying a soft picture, it may not be wise to spend a couple hundred on repairs when a new medium quality TV is three hundred to five hundred for a SONY. I applaud your devotion to a set that has served you well.

Video flashes off and on.

the tuner module is bad.
where the cable goes in in the back of the set, there is 2 modules on the main pc board and they are soldered in.
the smaller block is the IF module and it has broken grounds inside. it has to be removed from the main pc board and there is 7 pins or so.once the module is out, remove the tin covers and resolder the grounds around the perimeter.put the module back in.
i have fixed 100 of them

WEGA 36" : Screen is low contrast and green

Sorry to say, it sounds like a bad picture tube, But could be also the capacitor that filters the screen voltage on the crt drivers. In all my years though, your complaint has been the picture tube. Good Luck.
