Need to unlock parential control for a sony 57inch projection tv with no remote or 4 digit password

If this model has that the owner manual (google model number with manual if you do not have it) should tell you how to reset the code or remove it)

Failing that Sony Customer service has some pretty sharp people and on the phone will talk you thru the process---usually requires the Sony remote.

Hello
There are two possibilities for this fault with Sony Projection tVs. The first is with the lamp itself. The second one is with the lamp ballast baord. Replace the lamp ballast board first. Because, it there is any internal winding short in the inverter transformar of the ballast board this type of fault can occur. you have to replace the ballast baord along with the new lamp anyway. Therefore, replace the ballast board first. If this help you, there is no need ot replace the lamp. Picture of the ballast included here for you to compare.

gopakumarg43_36.jpg If replacing the ballast dis not help you, change the lamp too. OK.

How do you replace the Projection convergance on a sony 57inch widescreen tv.

you will need to replace both of the STK392-560 convergence ICs then the six pico fuses on the D board will need to be checked and possibly replaced, the G board also has two pico fuses that may need replacement. The SONY Type 1 convergence repair kit is available from www.tvrepairworld.com which fits your model the kit contains the two ICs, with heat sink pastre, the D board picos and the G board picos plus the CD that has step by step instructions for the repair

A lot of these had problems with the lamp door; you need to remove the door and take a careful look at it edgewise---heat from the lamp can warp the door.

Notice the small plastic peg on the back of the door--when installed it engages a lever which is a safety switch so set cannot be operated with door removed.

If door appears slightly warped what I do is engage the lever (usually tiny and blue in color) and turn the set on.

WARNING: IF SET COMES ON DO NOT LOOK AT LIGHT FROM LAMP DIRECTLY. If set works with lever engaged you need to replace the door (EBAY has sellers with most of them) and DO NOT OPERATE SET WITH DOOR REMOVED OR REPLACE OUTER SHIELD AS HEAT FROM LAMP CAN DAMAGE THAT WITH DOOR REMOVED.

Before you rate this solution let me know if you have questions or what you find; engaging the lever will either rule the door out or confirm it is your problem.

It has no lamp, just the three picture tubes and they are not your problem.

I would suggest you do an inspection looking for any signs of Glycol leaks.

Each of the three tubes has a sealed area with this liquid in it, clear and very toxic.

Pull the front speaker grill off and remove the inspection plate behind it. There are three large circuit boards. Right to left as seen from the front---signal/control board green in color, Middle board tan colored----deflection/power and far left board main power and HV supply.

Leaks may be hard to see, it will not be a lot of liquid and or may appear as discoloration of parts. Leaks if there will be in first 3 inches or so of front of boards.

The green board is the most likely in your case---I will attach a photo of what it looks like and you will see the liquid on the square part on that board. The board has parts soldered to the TOP! and slight amounts may appear as discoloration of solder seen there.

As I said, you must look closely as even a tiny amount can cause real odd problems.

Let me know what you find and I will assist you.

If this helped, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Hello.
Ballast in Sony is one of the most reliable parts, almost never goes bad.
I assume you have TV unplugged from the wall outlet to reset error memory (not to mention that you have to do it anyway during ballast replacement).
I hope you are using good quality lamp, because cheap substitute from E-Bay can cause same problem. Lamp and ballast works as duo and on-board diagnostic system is unable to separate them unless lamp is completely blown (in that case you will have steady "Lamp" LED blinking).
You need to set TV up with back cover removed but lamp door attached (there is switch that prevent TV from working if lamp door is removed). You need to locate large 2-wire connector on ballast and make sure that it's getting about 330V DC from power supply board when you turning your TV on. If it's not there - you have power supply board problem. There should be fuse on it (not on the ballast board but power supply board - just trace those two thick wires where they coming from). That fuse could be blown by previous bad ballast shortage.
Small connector on ballast have 5 pins. Some of them ground, one of them steady 5V and another trigger (turn on signal) 5V. Make sure all voltages are there. If there is no trigger 5V - you have problem with main board.
In my experience 90% cases - it is very bad quality new lamp or something is just not connected (forgot to put plug all the way or something).
Good luck!
Russ.

I have a 57inch Sony projector television and the screen is blue. What are some options on what i can do?

There are no options. The blue picture tube is shorted. It is no longer availible. To fix it the blue tube must be removed and sent off to a tube rebuilder. This is a pretty expensive repair. Around the $400 to $500 range. Sorry!
