NDSTT startup problems

I Insert the card and turn my DS's power on. eith before, after or during the DS logo popsup the screen instantly freezes on whatever screen its on. In addition on the few odd chances that it works, several games just freeze during gameplay.

    Background

    • I bought 3x of these cards just before Christmas
    • I am running a SANDISK 4GB Micro SD HC card on each
    • The cards are used in 2x older DS' and 1x DS Lite
    • I've tried running TTMenu v1.14 thru' to v1.16 - all same

    Usage/Startup Results
When starting up any of the consoles, any of the following results are typical, and getting the NDSTT menu to actually "fire-up" is nigh-on impossible:

    1. Initial top screen "Nintendo DS" & bottom screen "Warning - Health & Safety" displays show, but then both screens go to white and nothing more happens
    2. Initial top screen "Nintendo DS" & bottom screen "Warning - Health & Safety" displays show, but then top screen goes black and bottom screen goes to white and nothing more happens
    3. Initial top screen "Nintendo DS" & bottom screen "Warning - Health & Safety" displays show, and then top screen shows "Loading" icon but then freezes and goes no further
    4. Bottom screen shows "Warning - Health & Safety", but "greyed out"/dim, and goes no further. Top screen displays nothing at all

    Micro SD Card Layout

    1. TTMenu.dat
    2. Folder "TTMenu"
    3. Folder "Games"

    When Working

    If I keep starting

    • The cards are used in 2x older DS and 1x DS Lite models
    • I'm running the latest TTMenu, (I believe)
    • I have run an older TTMenu, but this generates the same results, which are as follows:

    5. If I keep trying, EVENTUALLY the DS starts TTMenu, and thereafter - fine

    6. As soon as I switch-off, I'm back to trying to get the Menu restarted - Aaarghhhh!!!

    Solution Attempts

    • Tried reformatting and reloading

    • Tried various versions of TTMenu

    • Tried using a "Games" subfolder, and also without one

That means that the its the Top Toy problem not the SD card problem because im using a Kingston 2 gig micro SD card right now and i get the EXACT SAME problems as you do. I Also have tried everything you have.

  • crescent_fla Jan 04, 2009

What would you say your chances were? in percentage

  • crescent_fla Jan 04, 2009

    for me its around 20%

  • sunset43 Jan 05, 2009

I have been experiencing the exact same problems, so any help would be appreciated

  • crescent_fla Jan 08, 2009

i have found that if you randomly press buttons after the screen freezes then turn it off and back on it will more likely get past the DS logo screen. Could anyone prove my theory by trying it?

  • crescent_fla Jan 13, 2009

uhhhmmmm i found a solution the problem is that you need a working DSTT card. because the problem lies within the card. For the problem to be fixed you need a REAL working card

reply if you want the instructions on how to fix using the two cards

Update To My Original Post:

I managed to get the "errant" cards back to the supplier, who issued me with new/replacement DSTT cards, and all is now fine!

I put the original Micro-SD cards back in, and fired up the DS' fitted with the new DSTT cards and all work completely as expected. I've had absolutely no start-up issues. They work first time, everytime - so far. Problem looks to have been "dodgy" DSTT cards.

Hope this helps.

I bought an ndstt card. II have bought an ndstt card. I have put some games on a micro sd card and inserted it in my ds but when i switch it on i just get a red picture of the card with a question mark and...

Have you put the firmware onto the micro sd card aswell. You will need this so it will load the games.

If not go to www.ndstt.com
left click the DOWNLOAD tab along the top of the screen
Scroll down to TTMenu Kernel v1.17, 2009-01-06 new
There should be several languages listed click the English one
then click the save button on the pop-up box. (firmware version 1.17)

Save this to your desktop or where ever you like... Desktop is easier.

You will need to un-zip this file. Then all you have to do is copy the 3 programs onto the Micro sd card.
I would make a NEW FOLDER in there calling it games or something similar... just keeps it tidy.

Then copy the games into this folder.

This should sort your problem out.

Cant get ndstt card to work help

do you mean the ds menu comes up as in the screen you get when there is no cartridge installed? or does it come up with a dstt menu screen but nothing else happens? if its the first then theres the possibility that you have a defective cartridge, i have had 2 of these, sent them back and got replacements. if its the second then you should check out the many great videos that helped hundreds on youtube. i never had probs with dstt carts but had initial probs with r4 carts and found the answers i wanted on good old youtube, hope that helps, let us know.

DS Lite won't detect ds cards most of the time.

Make sure your game card are clean. Kids will get all kinds of the stuff in there from lint to food. A blast of can air helps and you can also clean the cards with q-tip and alcohol(just a little bit not real wet)Damp! Then let dry! That help stop the build up of crud on the cards.

Nintendo ds freezes up during game play

The freezing whils using an R4 card can be caused by allowing the reset function to be turned on (it's on the top right corner of the botttom screen (green is on and red is off (red shouldn't lock up, green is reset on and may lock up)))

Unable to read DS micro SD card games

Have you installed Moonshell onto the micro-SD card? It has to be there to see the games. If you have Moonshell installed, you should be able to navigate to where you stored your files. Your adapter should have come with a CD with Moonshell on it or you can download a newer version on the internet.
