There shouldnt be a problem as it is supported by vista because the drivers are on the HP website. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=441240

  1. Manually locating the Windows Vista product key from the registry is nearly impossible due to the fact that it's encrypted.
  2. Note: The manual techniques used to locate the product key for operating systems like Windows 95 and Windows 98 do not work for Windows Vista. That method will only locate the product ID number, not the actual product key used for installation. Luckily, a number of free programs exist to help find product keys.
  3. Choose a free product key finder program that supports Windows Vista.
Note: Any product key finder that locates Windows Vista product keys will locate the product keys for any edition you may have including Windows Vista Ultimate, Home Premium, Home Basic, Business, and Enterprise.
  4. Download and run the key finder program. Follow any instructions provided by the software.
  5. The numbers and letters displayed by the program represent the Windows Vista product key. The product key should be formatted like xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx - five sets of five letters and numbers.
  6. Write this key code down exactly as the program displays it to you for use when reinstalling Windows Vista.
Note: If even one character is written down incorrectly, the installation of Windows Vista that you attempt with this product key will fail. Be sure to transcribe the key exactly.
  7. Tips:
  8. If you need to install Microsoft Windows Vista but you've tried everything and still can't find your Windows Vista product key, you have two choices.

You can either request a replacement product key from Microsoft or you can purchase a brand new copy of Windows Vista.

Requesting a replacement Vista product key is going to be cheaper but if that doesn't work out, you may in fact have to buy a new copy of Windows.

Can not install windows 7

if you are doing an upgrade from windows vista to windows 7 check first the version of your vista operating system, for example if you are using windows vista home premium 32 bit then the windows 7 CD that you need is windows 7 home premium 32 bit also, cant mix any versions or types of bit. it should be always the same. try also to download the windows upgrade advisory run it and check for programs and applications that you installed or pre-installed in your computer that cant affect the installation, remove those programs and applications that are not compatible with windows 7. just install those back again after.

if you are doing a clean installation of the windows 7
check first if the system requirements for windows 7 installation is applicable to the specification of your computer. if your system is capable the bqack up your files and go ahead with the installation

i hope this helps
Pls rate my resolution thanks!!

Yes, Vista Home Basic is junk!

1.Vista is considered an upgrade, compared to Windows XP. Therefore, Vista is not just going to let you install over it.

2.You have to get your Windows XP drivers back.

This is a pretty intricate operation, but once you have detailed information, it becomes do-able.
Below is a link with detailed information, and concise clear illustrations. I felt it would be better to give you this link, to avoid any confusion, and/or misunderstanding of information from me.

Well one problem might be that thats not your product key. The Product key is 25 characters of letters and numbers and if it was installed on your computer when you bought it theres probably a sticker on the bottom with your product key or if not it would be on the case that the installation disk came in.

How to upgrade from Vista Basic to Vista Premium.

You need a Vista premium disk to upgrade to Vista premium.

Just instert the Vista premium disk and start the installation.

If installation does not start, you will need to boot from setup CD, sometimes you have to change the bios boot sequence in bios settings, to start the installation from CD.
