Had been taking several attempts to get it to come on. Sometimes had to unplug and retry. Now only says "Scan TV". Is repair likely to be more expensive that what set is worth?

Sometimes heat is a real big issue with LCD monitors, over time it causes fractures and circuit breaking in the chips and pops off a few capacitors. It is likely that your control board has a couple bad capacitors and/or components that have failed yet have not removed the display capacity. So your T-Con board is likely not the issue.

When searching online use your monitors make model and production date and include "Main Control Board" so you can find products that are for your unit.

Searching Ebay and Amazon are common places these units will be sold and run anywhere from 5$ to 200$ depending on your monitors grade.

Will my Envision 19" monitor,

You will need to set the display resolution and vertical sweep rate on the computer to something the monitor can handle. The monitor works best at 1440 x 900 at 59.8 Hz vertical rate. If your laptop's graphics chip doesn't have this setting (available settings are listed in the Display control panel), then look on page 19 of the monitor's owner's manual to find something that matches a resolution listed in the control panel.

My laptop LCD screen is FUBAR and in order to use my computer I have hooked it up to an Envision 19" LCD Monitor. If I start Windows Vista in Normal mode , it does not recognize the Monitor. Pressing...

I would go ahead and boot into safe mode where you say it does work and then take a look. See how it detected it...ie look in device manager and see if it picked it up by it's true brand/type etc. Check the settings both of the display and on the envision itself. Check the resolution selection. It's probably picking it up as a lower res. but when it boots into reg windows may be trying to run at full res and perhaps that's what it won't do. Check to see what driver it's using. It may need the specific driver from envision and not the generic driver. It could also be a bad pin on the envision itself.

If you have another computer you can hook it up to, do that to make sure the envision is working. That way you can deduce which is the problem, the monitor or the setup in your laptop.

I have a message on my monitor that says, Out of Range. What can I do about it?

you need to change your screen resolution. the best way would be to hook it up to a bigger monitor or a television- one that can handle the present screen resolution, and then back the resolution down before re-hooking up the 19" monitor.

or you could boot in safe mode, uninstall the video driver, and then reinstall the driver, to reset the screen resolution to a basic resolution.

to change your screen resolution (hooked up to a different monitor) right click on the desktop and select "properties" in xp or "personalization>screen resolution" in vista/7.

What is the model of this monitor? You need to find out the native resolution of this monitor, then set your PC video resolution to that numbers for best picture.

Is there any speaker sets near the monitor or electromagnetic devices near the monitor?

Generally the flicker is caused by some external devices.

Envision 19" Monitor is "ghosting" . It is about 3 years old. Just starting doing it. Nothing has really changed on my computer. Thanks for any help.

Try reseating the input cables. If that doesn't work then you could try a new input cable. Updating your video card drivers might also do the trick.

I have the same problem. i downloaded a generic driver that allows 1600 X 900 resolution. this is better..things are taller rather than wider (with the 1280X1024 resolution). i dont understand why there isnt a 1440X900 driver available for XP systems.
