If it displays the 'no input' type message on the display, it's likely a cable or perhaps the main board in the monitor has gone out. However, if the display is completely black, no backlight, etc. or if the backlight flashes once then stays off, and possibly emits a high pitched squeeling sound, it is very likely that the capacitors on the power supply board for the inverter(s) have gone bad. Apparently there are a few different versions of this same monitor, but all seem similar, and many seem to have problems with the capacitors going bad over time. There is information floating around on this monitor on the internet (http://boredprojects.blogspot.com/2008/06/hp-vs19d-fix.html) which may or may not be the same as yours, but pulling it apart to replace the capacitors is a $5-10 and 1-2 hour shot in the dark, and seems to be within the capabilities of anyone with the ability to solder. Just be careful of the small surface mount components which are all over the back sides of these boards... The bad capacitors should be fairly obvious, with bulged or ruptured tops, possibly leaking fluid. The are most likely going to be the 1000uF 10V (or 25V depending on the model) capacitors towards one edge of the board. On mine, there were 6, 3 of which had swollen. Replace them with the same (higher voltage rating is fine, but not lower) specification parts, and it should be back in order.

When I start the computer the Windows XP Logos light up on the Monitor (HP w1907) when the computer starts the Logo disappears and the monitor goes to sleep

If this monitor (HP w1907) is going into sleep mode the normally blue power led will change to yellow. This indicates loss of video signal or possible out of range resolution. If the picture goes dark and the power lite stays blue, you have a backlight malfunction. It can be an inverter power fault but this model mostly has worn out backlights causing a shutdown condition.

HP vs19 monitor does not turn on.

You may have to inspect the inside of the monitor. You may have to dry it out from the inside and look for burned component which may be caused by a short due to the moisture.

My HP vs 19 desktop monitor is on, but the screen is blank. It flashes on for less than a second when I turn the monitor off, and then back on -- but then goes blank. What is the solution?

If you are handy at fixing things.

Here is a link of how to fix your monitor. I had the same problem, and found this link, followed the instructions and it cost me $5.13
to fix my HP vs19 LCD monitor, and its still working great.

Don't drag out your soldering gun these are too high wattage and will melt the board. Use a 40 to 25 watt soldering iron.

HP 19" Monitor Blinking

The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occurr are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing statebecause of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Power Light Blinking & Black Screen

A blinking blue light indiactes that your power-inverter board is not putting out what it should. It needs an overhaul which may be a simple as changing out the capacitors on the boards.
It could go beyong that to transistors or even a bad bulb.
It will have to be opened up to do that.
A picture may show visual signs of damage. If you can take one and email it to me , I'll take a look.
