Question about Philips GoGear SA5285/37 Digital Media Player

2 Answers

Bought my daughter the SA 5285/37 yesterday. Opened it, plugged it in, transferred two files, then it froze. Pushed the reset button as we had only done two files, but now it when it powers on it only says GOGear on the screen and won't do anything else, and the computer doesn't recognize that it is connected. I have reinstalled the software and restarted the computer, same thing.

My daughter received the GoGear Media Player for Christmas. She downloaded some songs then the product froze up. Once she turned it off she was not able to turn it back on. Any suggestions. Phillips isn't willing to be much help on this.

Read Solution#1 Jan06,2008 by me dwh123 and you will find information there about using a program other than the normal prescribed software such as Windows Media Player or ArcSoft Software for getting "Stuff" into the PVP such as Philips Sa5285/37. The Mozilla FireFox Browser and AddOn's are readily available for free on the Internet and you do not have to be connected to the Internet to Convert files using the Download Helper AddOn if the file is already on your PC. (EG: a movie you have on your PC from a Camcorder.) There likely be no more freeze ups and the speed at which you can get a Video onto the PVP is almost instant once the conversion is done. Good Luck !

Reset the player by inserting a paerlcip into the reset hole. If that fails, go to Philips' website and upgrade the firmware on your player to solve the freezing issue permanently. Actually, don't go to Philips website - run the Philips Device Manager and select Update. If the device manager won't recognize the player, unplug the GoGear, hold in either the shuffle button or volume + and reconnect it to the computer until a Found New Hardware Wizard window pops up.

To turn it off try emergency "turn of combination": Menu + Record buttons. This also will help you to reset wrong parameters in your device.

You need to use the Recovery Tool from Creative's website at support.creative.com

Creative Zen
Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Reset
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If all else fails, check with this guy:

Yp-k3 samsung Mp3 Screen Froze On "Remove Cable"

My daughter had a similar problem - she was frozen at the power off screen. On closer inspection, at the bottom of the K3 on the back of the unit is a reset button (you will need a pin or paper clip to reset it). Pushed a pin in for a few seconds, reset, all was OK.

Yp-t9 froze while transferring files now computer doesn't recognize it

This is for David Jorge. I faced the exact same problem. Oddly the stupid thing restarted when I kept pressing all four buttons (on the right side) for a while. Afterwards there was no problem.

Frozen, Can't Access Files in Neeon, not charging either.

first thing first, there are afew things that we had in common; we owned neeon and we both had windows vista.

why vista?

as sophisticated it may seems, vista had so many trouble with the product. I believe that when you try to format the product with vista, it all goes well. everything vanished, the songs, folders, even viruses gone as if it were a new born son. when it all seemed nothing happen, you copy a song on neeon, you unplug it and turn neeon on. voila! no music appeared!

actually, the problem lies with vista itself. the solution is simple actually, no downloading required. while vista can't get the job done, you still had it predecessor, the marvelous windows xp!

just format the product again on your xp. vista can only transfer songs and organize the folders.

old stuff works well with all version of neeon.

believe me, if i had not discover this sooner, i would had trashed my 5 GB mp3.
