Question about Alessi (AL3847305500) Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker

Open Question

Major explosion I was brewing espresso as usual and the entire pot exploded hit the wall leaving coffee grinds all over the kitchen walls and ceiling with a big dent in the wall. Luckily no one was in the kitchen at that moment. The heat was low, I had checked in on it two seconds before it blew. Contacted alessi but they said they did not sell the bottom part of the pot any longer. I noticed a tiny piece of metal jutting out from the portion where the latch snaps in. What to do? It is a six cupper.

Cuisinart Grind and Brew will not emply all the water

The two most common reasons for overflow or underflow have to do with the carafe lid and the filter basket - they key to smooth flow with this coffee maker is making sure the filter basket and carafe lid are making the proper contact with each other so that the center knob on the carafe lid pushes slightly up on the filter basket spring. Make sure the carafe lid is completely closed. Make sure the filter basket is pushed all the way down. Make sure you are not using the gold tone filter and a paper filter at the same time. For some reason, I get better results when the handle of the carafe is resting against the right side wall. If everything is in place, I would suspect a problem with either the filter basket being clogged or some problem with the carafe lid - call Cuisinart as they should be able to order these parts for you.

Bunn coffee pot blows water out top of basket

Check the grind on the coffee, brew a pot without coffee and if it overflows, then the machine has a problem. If it doesn't then try a coarser grind on the coffee.

Sometimes coffee maker overflows

Do you grind your beans at home before brewing or is it ground from the store. If you grind just before brewing check her grind and compare it with yours.
Also check to see if she levels the coffee in the basket. Usually when a pot overflows it is because of the grind or the way the coffee sits in the basket.

Cuisinart grind and brew

This happens when the machine needs cleaned. Fill coffee maker with white vineger instead of water. Turn grind off, make sure empty pot is in place. Brew a pot of hot vineger. Repeat. Brew a pot of hot water. Repeat. This process removes mineral buildups inside machine. If you have access to filtered water, start using that to brew your coffee. I do and probably do this process 1 per 6 weeks.

This is a real problem with these coffee makers, and there's not much that can be done. However, there is a work around: before brewing, just hit the button to brew 1-4 cups. It'll still brew a whole pot, it'll use all the water, the coffee will taste no different, and you can still program it however you'd like. Cheers!

Water/grinds spillover in coffee basket

Pot must be inserted with the handle pointing straight out the front so it will hit the valve that is below the basket designed for the "rob a cup" while brewing feature.
