Hi Jimmy, Does the PC load windows fully before restarting? If it does load and then restart, then it may be a problem on the part of your hard drive. Run a full scan of the PC with an updated anti-virus to rid off any viral attacks.Make sure the anti-virus is always updated for better performance. If it does not load windows, try this:-
Restart the PC.
Before it loads the first page, press Ctrl,Alt and Del.This is a soft boot sequence.
The booting leads you to the Bios setup page.
Under file save changes and exit[though no changes made].
If problem not solved repeat the procedure again.
If the problem persists, you may have to reinstall the operating system again.
Time to run CHKDSK/F if you can or restore your OS. It has been caused by a registry error and there are a number of ways that can happen, from removing power before shut dow to, if Win7/Vista, trying to hack a way in without a password.
To resolve this problem, replace the missing or corrupted Ntfs.sys file:
Use the Windows Vista startup disks or the Windows Vista CD to restart your computer.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to select the To repair a Windows Vista installation using Recovery Console, press R option.
Type the number of the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console, and then press ENTER.
Type the administrator password when you are prompted, and then press ENTER. If no administrator password exists, just press ENTER.
At the command prompt, type the following commands (press ENTER after each command):
ren ntfs.sys ntfs.oldNote This step renames the corrupted Ntfs.sys file to Ntfs.old. If the Ntfs.sys file is not found, the file is missing.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
copy cd:\i386\ntfs.sys drive:\windows\system32\driversWhere cd is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive that contains the Windows Vista CD, and drive is the drive where you installed Windows Vista .
Remove the Windows Vista CD from your CD-ROM drive, type quit at a command prompt, and then press ENTER to quit the Recovery Console.
That is known as "The Blue Screen of Death" and is a real problem. It is usually caused by an update problem, cut off half way through updating, or a corrupt boot ini file. As the notenook is trying to boot up, press F8, its timing is a bit tricky and it will take several attempts, a "DOS" menu will appear. Choose "Safe Mode" The notebook will have the ability to try and replace the faulty file. When it has loaded, Back Up your Data! then click to close it down. See if it boots normally, if it does, you are lucky! Now is the time to run CHKDSK/F to try and iron out any hard drive problems. Hope that helps.
