What type of computer do you have (laptop or desktop) and what model ? what versions of Window, what type of mouse ( usb, wireless, mouse with ball underside, optical mouse, etc )

And did this happened after a software upgrade or installation ?

What happens when you replace the mouse with another mouse, does it do the same thing ? If you haven't tried with another mouse
try doing that first as it may need to be replaced (depending the type of mouse) and that may solve your problem.

I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop and my cursor keeps jumping when I am typing e-mails etc

If your hands are really warm they don't even need to touch the touchpad in order to move the cursor. You can go into "device manager" and disable the touchpad and just use a wireless mouse instead...

Am using a Lenova B460 laptop. The cursor jumps very frequently when i type a letter in word or notes or outlook mail etc.

There is not so much that could be done to repair a keyboard. Disassemble the laptop, check the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. If the ribbon cable is loose, tighten it. If it is tight, replace the keyboard with a new one.

1 Never have ur Auto updates Enabled...go and turn it OFF in Control Panel Security Ctr...most of the time the auto update screws up ur PC....and Microsoft applications that u run like XL/word/outlook etc

Cursor jumps erratically

Most likely, your wrist is gently touching the touchpad, and your computer is interpreting it as a 'tap,' and it so happens your cursor was located several lines up.
Or if you use a separate mouse, is it on a wood or uneven surface? This will cause it to jump up those few lines and again, your wrist (or if you have big hands like I do, the bottom of your thumbs) will tap it.
