Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

Have Dell Latitude D830 only 14 mos. old and having intermittent problem booting up. It appeared that I resolved problem by not using the Hibernate mode...but booting problem recurred even with full turn off. Contacted Dell and they wanted to send new hard disk since covered by warranty. Any thoughts on resolution? Have Win XP home.

How to install a c-mos battery in a dell latitude c-840 Laptop

Hello,

this means you will be opening the laptop cover from under, then remove the old c-mos battery, then replace with another.

The laptop must be off, battery removed, unscrew the under laptop cover, to access the c-mos battery, and that's all.

Good luck.

DELL LATITUDE D600 fails to boot up

Hello

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

Not sure if it's a sure fix or not, but it worked for me.

I have a Dell Latitude c640 and when powering up, the caps LED would blink roughly 10 times, things would spin up, but after the 10 or so blinks, it would power down without anything having been displayed. This happened just after I had the laptop going on batteries, and it went into hibernate mode automatically after the batteries got low. When I plugged back up to a power supply and turned on, the computer started to exhibit this problem.

All I did was removed the bottom panel, removed both memory modules, put the memory modules back in the slot, rocked them at least 7 times before locking them back in to place to ensure a good seat, and completly seated them (clicks into place), closed up the panel, and powered up.

After doing this, the system booted up normally.

Just as a bynote , Faulty RAM, damaged motherboard affecting the RAM (ie cracked RAM slot where it was maybe forced in with a bit too much pressure) and lastly cooking the chip although this is a lot more rare.
Easiest way to check is get another laptop and swap YOUR RAM INTO IT if it affects that laptop then RAM, riskier is to switch ITS RAM into yours, still does it - generally MoBo.
there are also other problems that cause these errors, but in my experience these are the most common
Good luck!

Intel proset says no physical wifi adapter is installed

Left click start, left click control panel, left click power options, left click hibernate tab, uncheck enable hibernate, click apply, left click power schemes tab, set every selection under the plugged in category to never then click apply close the control panel. This is just to test internet connection to see if it continues to disconnect from the internet. It won't hurt to visit support.dell.com enter the tag number for your laptop and download the most recent driver for your Intel Proset Wireless Card and any recent updated driver updates if there are any listed. After downloading the new driver and you've performed the test of allowing the laptop to sit with hibernation disabled a while all selections under power schemes set to never. The laptop should not go into hibernate, thus should not disconnect from the internet. Downloading the newest driver is just another suggestion to resolve the issue.

Dell 100l ntdrl missing on start up

Hi,
For some reason your boot files are missing.
ntldr ( NT loader ) is one of the main boot files that is missing.
possibly a boot sector virus.which corrupts the ntldr file.

Put the disc back in, and you can choose to either install the O/S, or you can repair the current O/S, go for the repair,

Should resolve the problem,

Then run a full system vius scan,

Should be good then

Regards
Richard.

Dell latitude d620 needs factory restore

Apparently your model of laptop doesn't have a recovery partition. You're going to have to get out the Dell Operating System CD for your laptop, boot to the CD and reinstall Windows the old fashioned way. Make sure the product key on the laptop case is handy.

Dell Latitude D620 - Screen shows boot up, but then goes blank. I know the screen is ok as the dell part shows on screen, but when the blue screen should appear to insert password etc, the screen remains...

Here are some easy things that can sometimes resolve this problem:
1) Sometimes there can be a static buildup on the mother board. Power off, remove the battery, remove the power cord and hold the power button in the on position for at least 30 seconds.
2) If that didn't work- Power down, remove the battery, remove the Hard Drive and memory modules and reinsert them. Try to power back up
If these things don't work, get back to me for some more ideas.
Hope this helps and have a super day!
