Thanks a million, that was exactly it.

The solution described above did not solve the issue. The "Hide Sent Messages" addressed deals with the check mark that indicates a message has been successfully sent (and which I do want displayed). My problem is that every email I send (from a gmail account I have hooked up to my blackberry) also shows up in my inbox as unread message which I want to get rid of. Any thoughts? Thanks

Dear Elbibop48,

To understand the subject fully, i may have to be a little techno here. Please excuse me if i become too technical. (Try to read the whole email till the very last)

This whole system works on two protocols. (POP or IMAP)
POP (Post office protocol)
IMAP(Internet Message Access protocol)

The problem that you are facing is because you are trying to access an account which is not on a Blackberry Enterprise Server.
You are trying to access a Gmail account. Gmail uses centralised IMAP accounts. (If you make a change on the same account anywhere, it will be mirrored everywhere). GMail never provides their POP and SMTP addresses publicly. (otherwise, you could create an HTTP Based pull (That is another way of downloading your email using a web browser. This way you will not receive a copy of your email that you opened on PC.)

Our fellow friend "Genyus" gave you a part solution. This way, at least you will not get a copy of sent item in your computer but this will not stop the copies of emails to come to your box that are even clicked accidentally or opened by you on your computer. (this can happen to any older items even year old if you just happen to click it and leave it open for some time.)

Honestly speaking, Technically there is a limitation to do this. As BIS automatically recognizes the Gmail server and never allows to do manual configurations.

Unfortunately, in the absence of certain factors, Its not possible till date. May be someday we can come across a solution for this.

I just wanted to update you about this as Sometimes we cant have all.

Thanks and Best Regards,

    Mr. Arelin,

I guess the explaination gives you the answer to your concern.

If you are using any business domain other than, Yahoo, gmail, or hotmail, this is doable.

You can follow what i have written in my earlier comment.

    Best Regards,

@ arelin: You can resolve that with the following steps:

  1. Login to your BIS
  2. Select "Filters" for your Gmail account
  3. Create a new filter and name it something like "Hide sent messages" (or similar)
  4. Set "Apply filter when" to "From field"
  5. Set "Contains" to [your account]
  6. Select "Do not forward messages to handheld"
  7. Click "Save"

And you should now be freed from receiving your own sent messages.

Open Messages.
Open the menu.
Click on Options.
Click on General Options
Scroll down... you will see "Hide Sent Messages".
Change that to "Yes"

Hope that works for you.

Emails for BlackBerry go through their own server network to be sent to your phone. It is possible BlackBerry had an outage. If that's the case, they should resume soon.

Also try to restart the phone and check your settings to see if they are still accurate.

BB bold 9000, in box problems

Hi, sounds like your Email is dumping messages to make room for more. Go into your email account settings and see how much Memory Space is available for Messages. If the FREE/Available space is close to USED space then you will need to get a memory card so that you can save messages onto that, Freeing up Space for NEW Messages.

Number 1 thing you have to do is update your Blackberry software. The Bold has tons of issues like that. When I updated it, most of the problems were resolved. You can download the update from your service provider or from Blackberry at The icon should work properly. If it doesn't, call your service provider and have them send you a new one.
