Question about Epson Stylus Photo RX600 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Epson RX585 only printing part of the document

Printer was working fine. About a month ago it started randomly only printing a portion of the document then attempting to print the rest of it on a seperate sheet of paper, sometimes it will get through several sheets of paper until it has finished. Alteratively it will just print out endless sheets of random characters (looks like machine code) or just send out endless sheets of blank paper. Tried updating to the latest vista drivers and resetting it back to its factory settings but still doing it. Does it also when I am printing of DVD's. Any help would be much appreciated.

Narrowed the problem down to a communications error. Tried the printer out on a xp computer and it worked fine. After messing about in msconfig and much restarting, it looks like vista sidebar is causing the problem.

  • marvyn160 Dec 28, 2008

Before anyone suggests uninstalling and reinstalling with latest drivers, already did that. Never worked, only thing that has worked so far is closing sidebar.

  • marvyn160 Dec 28, 2008

All these solutions are a complete waste of time. Already tried all of the obvious, that is why I ended up on here. it is not the drivers, the printer or the cable.

  • marvyn160 Dec 31, 2008

Still getting same problems. Thought it was the sidebar but it wasn't. Printed fine on Xp but won't on vista. Updated to latest drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled. Changed cartridges, checked cables and closed all non-essential programs running in background. Not willing to buy a new printer, this one cost me £185, six months ago.

  • marvyn160 Dec 31, 2008

This really beginning to annoy me now. Tried everything and nothing works. Prints fine on XP but not on vista. Messed about with paper feed, no difference.

A manual reset of your printer should work. First just unplug the printer and the USB cable for a few minutes and then after warm up apply the below solution.

[Thanks to the many user boards on the Internet for this solution that I know has worked for people I've helped here on FixYa.]

Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work the first time. The key is in pressing the buttons exactly at the same time. So if this doesn't work the first time, try again and try again. Most people state they get it eventually.

[thanks to fixyourownprinter.com for the crux of this particular solution]

"Printer Onboard Control Panel Key Sequence"

"Press and hold the paper feed, paper switch and the power switch.

Once the power light and paper light flashes twice and the other lights are flashing release the paper feed and paper switch "and then press the paper feed switch".

The power, paper and ink lights will flash twice. At this point the protection counter has been reset."

Don't give up, if it does not reset the first time. The timing is tricky for some people.

Worldvet

You may also want to apply the Vista SP2 in Beta release. It is ready to use, its just not official. The release is so close in nature to Server that the Vista package is combined.

Go here to download it from Microsoft.

Well you have already tried reinstalling the software which usually is the cause for such errors. Have you Restore the Windows and give a clean Installation?

either its the problem that the driver which you have loaded is corrupted or the driver is not compitable,if its proper then try the other options.
--------> Okay, the paperfeed at the top, on the left hand side is a grey slide, (right in the printer) to hold the paper in place. USE IT to keep the paper straight, it seems, if the paper goes in straight, the whole page will print. thanks.

If the problem continues, try the next steps below.Step six: Print a test pagePrint a test page to verify that the printer’s internal firmware is functioning properly. For instructions on how to print a test page, refer to the User's Guide that came with the printer.

  1. Try to print a document. If the problem continues, try the next steps below.Step seven: Set the printer as the default printerClick Start, click Settings, and then click Printers .In the dialog box, check to see if there is a checkmark by the printer’s icon.If there is no checkmark by the printer’s icon, place the mouse pointer on the printer’s icon and click the right mouse button.Use the left button to choose Set as default printer .Try to print a document. If the problem continues, try the next steps below.Step twelve: Test with a different cableDisconnect the printer cable from the computer and the printer.Connect a new printer cable to the printer and the computer.Try to print a document. If the problem continues, try the next steps below.Step thirteen: Test from a different computer (if possible)If you have access to another computer that has your printer’s driver installed, then disconnect the printer from the computer.Connect the printer to another computer.Try printing from the other computer. If you can print from the other computer, then you have your computer serviced. Take the printer in too and ask the technician to reinstall the printer driver and ensure that you can print from all software on the computer.Step fourteen: Reinstall the printer portIf none of the steps above resolve the problem, then the computer may not be able to identify the printer connection. You may need to reinstall the printer port. The instructions for doing this vary from system to system. It is best ask computer technician or support agent to check the system and reinstall the correct port for you if necessary

You must reprogram the software of your printer, get the CD or DVD for the printer you have and re-install it, choose "repair" because the software program has defected, and restart your computer after re-installing,

This does not look being a driver problem. Check the printer paper settings , ensure they are on A4, if you use a4 paper, for example.

Try also mooving the tractions wheel that pool the paper inside the machine, if this is not a setting problem, then it is a fault related to the paper loading mechanics.

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

My printer is not printing with all of the colors and there is banding, brand new ink and printheads changed in the last 6 months.

I'm having a simialr problem, I can get my Kodak EasyShare 5300 printer to print pictures just fine, I can even get it to copy & print from the scanner. In both black and color inks. What I can not get the Kodak EasyShare 5300 Printer to do is to print from Microsoft Office Word, or Works for that matter any text document what so ever. I've never had a problem with the printer ever, not even when I upgraded to Windows 7 it printed just fine up till a few months ago and started acting up. At first I thought it was because I hadn't used it in awhile so I replaced both cartridges so they are brand new. Tried my experiment again and it did the same thing, pictures, and copy and print from the printer works just great...text however from the Word programs....nothing but a blank page.

Running Windows 7 - 64 bit Dell Touchscreen, Dual Core Processor. Before you ask...before this incident the Kodak Printer intergraded just fine and worked without incident. Since it is not the printer portion (unless its the printhead), it has to be a software problem...although, I used the disk that came with the printer to re-install it and not from the web just in case that was the problem. Course would installing the web upgraded software be of any assistance? Anyone have any solutions? Thanks.

Epson Stylus T10 printer prints out random symbols from PDF file

When you attempt to print, make sure you are using the correct printer. If you had an old printer before, its name will be still in the printers' list.
and unknowingly you may be trying to print with that printer. To check this:
Goto the File Menu -> select Print-> Highlight the printer you are currently using, and then Print.
I am pretty sure this will solveyour problem.
If it does, give a rating to this answer.
Have a good day.

Bluetooth dongle

Not really, what operating system are you using? on the printer itself set it to bluetooth settings and dont put n a code set but set it to discoverable, then when printing dont do a file print, instead right click on the file and then on your send to option if your computer is detecting the dongle one option will say stylus rx585- then it will print it. one thing that you can check is as belkin manufacturer if their bt dongle is compatible with epson, and FYI bluetooth printng is for photo printng only. doesnt look as good if you are going to print a document or text docs..

hope this helps, and if you have inquiries email me back
if it solved your issue pls rate as fixya, thanks!!!
