My mother has an Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop and can connect to wireless internet but then cannot access Internet Explorer. This has been going on since she first purchased the laptop (nearly 1 year ago) and she is intimidated to ask about fixing the problem. She is very new to computing and has been using Dial-up to access the internet. She is on vacation and doesn't have any software for the computer with her. Any suggestions? Thanks very kindly!

Depending on the make of your Laptop they nearly all have a switch/slider or keystrokes to enable wireless. For the majority it is the FN key (bottom left of the keypad in blue) + one that has like a radio antenna on it, maybe F6-7 Hope this helps.

I couldnt connect to our wifi network after we changed our network.. but i can coonect it to other network outside without security code

Hi there!

If you can connect to other network, then that means your wireless adapter is working fine. You said that you've changed the network recently, then that might be where the problem is. You'll need to update your wireless connection. I suggest you delete the existing wireless and start a new connection to your wireless network, using the new wireless key.

Hope this helps

I have a dell inspiron1300 laptop pc.This problem has just developed. When I turn on it won't connect to the internet(wireless connection) until I click ''repair'' on the small connection icon at the bottom...

This can happen when both the wireless router and the laptop are powered up together. The laptop boots up before the wireless router can issue the laptop with an IP address. When you click Repair the LAN card requests a new IP address from the router and then the laptop can connect to the Internet.

I get this problem sometimes and then I have to click Repair.

Try leaving the wireless router powered up or power up the wireless router first. I suggest rebooting the wireless router approx. once a week, the wireless router will then be issued with a new IP address from your ISP, this makes it difficult for hackers to hack into your wireless router/network.

what version of linux are you using? If it's one that came preinstalled with the laptop I suggest looking at Ubuntu netbook edition, *very* capable OS, if that can't handle it nothing will.

Aspire acer one notebook not connecting to internet

is the wireless turned on on the computer? sometimes there is an external switch, or sometime it is a key combination. but always there is a light which should come on if the card is active. so look around the computer for a wireless icon.

I keep losing my connection - IBM Thinkpad t42

Are you using IBM SW or Windows to manage the wireless? Occassionally, the IBM SW has issues with certain model routers and encyrption types.

You can also try unchecking the "Allow Computer to turn this device off to save power" in the adapter properties and

Adjusting the power on the wireless device to the max. By default IBM sets it in the middle to conserve power.

Normally it is an issue of installing the drivers in the correct order.

Chipset Utility
Video Driver
Audio Driver
Network Driver
Wireless Driver
Quickset Utility
Touchpad Driver
DVD SW

Can not connect to internet using wireless

Did you input the WEP key? I will assume you are using Windows XP. So go to control panel, network connections and then go to the wireless connection and then select view wireless connections double click on the one with the highest strength, which should be your 2wire. When it asks for the network security key type in the numbers that are located on the sticker on the bottom of your router between the [########] brackets.

Notebook won't connect to network

1) Verify if Wi-Fi WLAN interface of your notebook is OK.
1a) Check whether HW switch is ON and the wireless system service is running.
1b) Switch on the WLAN Access Point (router) SSID broadcasting.
1c) Scan WLAN networks by the notebook. Can you see your home WLAN? If not, there is HW or SW problem in your wireless adapter probably. If WLAN is visible, continue by next steps.

2) Remove all WLAN security on both sides (AP and notebook): Authentication = none/open, encrytption = none.
3) Activate DHCP server in the router and set the dynamic IP assigning on WLAN notebook interface.
4) Select your home WLAN SSID in the list and try to connect.
5) Wait and check status. Is WLAN connected? Does obtain the notebook an IP address?
6) In success case set the WLAN security.
