Usually if you need to rewire your on/off/knob, it is because of a faulty knob switch inside..or broken wires to the knob have come unsoldered.etc. If you have replaced the old knob with a new one,and is an exact same type with same wiring points. you can easily resolder to the orginal areas and it will work. Broken wires from the switch could be resecured to the post they came off of if you have access to the schematics diagram to your on/off switch. If you dont, you can download a PDF file from your manufactorers site..searching for your particular make and model c.b. then download the manual...at a cost or for free.. al

What is a voic box on a cobra 29 ltd? What is a good antt combo four a 29 ltd?

Cobra's LTD 29 model Citizen's Band radio features the full 40 channels allowed and a heavy-duty microphone. The radio provides 4 watts of AM radio frequency output with a switchable automatic noise limiter and noise blanker. Other features include Cobra's Delta-Tune function. Making a Cobra LTD 29 hear and receive better involves making changes to the radio's settings, including the settings specific to this brand.
M/F Turn the switch labeled "NB/ANL, ANL, OFF" to the "ANL" position and try the transmission again if noise is affecting reception. "ANL" is an automatic noise limiter function and reduces noise caused by the vehicle's electrical systems and electronics.

M/F Switch to "NB/ANL" to activate the noise blanker, which may also reduce noise if you continue to have problems. It's an RF noise filtration function and will help with ignition noise.

M/F Adjust the "RF Gain" knob by turning it clockwise to increase gain in weak signal areas if you have problems hearing radio traffic.

M/F Set the "Delta-Tune" function to capture a more listenable signal and get rid of adjacent channel noise. Rotate the knob labeled "Deltatune" to the center position for best tuning. Try micro-adjustments to the left or right as well.

M/F Turn the volume up if you still can't hear and as with any CB radio, adjust the squelch if the radio is noisy when there's no traffic. Turn the knob labeled "Squelch" all the way to the left to receive all signals, including noise and turn the control clockwise until the background noise stops. You will be able to hear the strongest transmissions without having to listen to weak signals and noise.

My cobra 29 ltd is in a ford truck with a over head camper. i put a magnet mounted wilson 1000 watt ant (4ft.) on top of the cab. I cannot get any squelch to work I did a radio check i believe i was heard...

Assuming you don't have the manual, basic controls for receive are to make sure the switch next to the meter is set to s/rf,switch for cb/pa is set cb,knob for rf gain is at max, squelch knob is fully counterclockwise..squelch can be adjusted if ya don't want to hear static but will start cutting out weaker signals. If none of the above works, try plugging in an external speaker to the jack on the back of the radio,if ya still don't hear anything, check that antenna coax is screwed in tightly in back of the radio.Next step after all that would be the microphone,is the stock mic, power mic..if it is the original stock mic that has not been rewired in any, then I would suggest taking radio to qualified cb repair shop, bring mic with you to shop so they can check it too,in fact I would bring the truck also so they can check antenna and adjust it if needed...Good luck

Cb has power but no squelch, can't recieve or transmit

Begin with
  • Volume knob 12 o'clock position
  • Squelch knob full counter clockwise
  • RF gain knob full clockwise
  • Pa/CB switch to CB
  • Mic plugged in
  • Check coax and antenna connections.
  • Make sure your antenna gommet/insulator is installed correctly or it will directed gound. Treat antenna shaft as it is the positive portion of circuit.
If you have another CB check the antenna system with that rig. To verify it is a radio issue. Then dig deeper Microphone, PLL chip, Audio chip etc.

I have 4 wires that came loose on my volume/squelch knob. 2 are black, 1 white, 1 green. trying to figure out where they go.

Nothing Yellow Black
Green White Black
Orange Red

The black wires are both ground connected into the same part in the board. Just connect them depending on length.

This is the picture of the vol knob, with the dial upward looking down on the tabs. The top wires, yellow and black, are for the volume. The Middle row, green, white and black are for the squelch. the orange and the red are the power switch.

Squelch doesnt work

Open the component / speaker side cover on the radio, adjust VR3, this is the alignment control for the squelch. Set your squelch control knob on the front of the radio to about 10 o'clock and slowly adjust VR3 until the signal from the speaker is mute.

When you turn the squelch back to the 0 position, you should have signal with no squelch as in normal operation.

Thanks!
