On both the TV set itself and the remote, the only button that does anything is the power button. The green light comes on and stays steady on the TV but the picture is just snow. Anyone have any idea of what might be wrong and whether or not it's worth it to fix it?
Here are a few more troubleshooting steps you can try when your TV picture is just snow. I see that you have already rebooted your TV, but did you turn your set-top box off and on, too?
1. Does the picture show when you play a DVD?
2. Check all of the connections between the TV, outlet and set-top box and make sure everything is secured.
3. Is your TV set to the correct channel (typically 3, but in some areas 2 or 4)?
4. Press any key on the remote to see if the correct mode lights up. (Ex: if you have cable, the cable button should light up). If it doesn't, press the correct mode's button to regain control and change channels.
5. Call your service provider and make sure it's not an overall service outage.
6. Do you have sound but no picture? If so, it could mean a backlight failure.
For more suggestions, see TV black screen or snowy screen for troubleshooting and solutions. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the steps but I think that this is probably a board problem of some sort; none of the buttons on the set itself or the remote do anything with the exception of the power button. The power green light comes on and about a minute later the snowy picture appears. Every 15 seconds or so the picture blips off for a second and then resumes snowing. The green light remains constant and does not blink.

What about the Led, it shows blinkig light or just dead . if no blinkig at all could'be power supply fuse and or the powers upply board

Try different cable, if you still get the problem after replacing cables, then you have a defective sygnal board (input board).

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.
To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

Hi Chris,
I used to have the same issues with my 32S3000 but I've managed to fix it by factory reset.
It's described in a different post here:

Good luck.

Hello, have you tried unplugging it for 60 seconds and plug it back in. if there is still no buttons that function, you may have a bad QM board, that's the "brain" board in that set.....thanks, Terry
Yes, I tried the unplug/replug test... that was about all Sony Support would walk me through before telling me that my TV needs servicing.
