NS-BTHDST will not work on Vista system - need driver!
Received for Xmas - great! Run on laptop w/ vista op.sys - NO way! Recognizes headset, mic works, nothing thru earphones. CD in the pkg doesn't load compatible driver. Tried looking on the site and on web. Just get re-directed to an upgrade from MoJo which is $4.99 US (sucks). Won't work now so upgrade is useless. Did find comments from others with same problem- Anyone know how to get this working? Santa may have to drag his tired **** back here to return it to the north pole!
Re: NS-BTHDST will not work on Vista system - need...
I had this problem too with both vista and XP and it is a matter of changing what the computer is outputting to. If you look to the bottom right of your display you should see the icons in bar. If you right click on the speaker icon and select audio properties. It will open a window labeled 'Sounds and Audio Devices Properties' and select the "Audio" tab. If you change the Default Device to the Bluetooth headset, click apply, then restart your media player software then it should work.
I will try and watch this site to see if this helps, let me know.

If you are indeed talking about your Insignia bluetooth headset the reason it works with your cellphone is probably because your phone is already bluetooth enabled, but your laptop is not, which is what the usb dongle is for. You must install the drivers for the dongle for it to make your laptop bluetooth enabled. Once you have that working you need to go to Bluetooth places (should be on the desktop once the driver is installed) THEN hold the button on the headset down until the lights flash blue and red alternating. Once it is flashing, click on add new bluetooth device in the Bluetooth Places and it should pick it up. Once that is going everything is pretty straighforward...follow the wizard. Hope this helps!
I had the same problem, but fixed it. All you have to do is: (I have a Dell Laptop) 1. Go to the control panel 2. Go to the sounds, speech and audio devices 3. You are supposed to see the icon that belongs to your sound card (Mine is SigmaTel Audio), click on it 4. Activate the port where the microphone is connected, close 5. Configure your microphone as you normally would 6. It should work
you do not need to uninstall any driver..i had the same problem and i just bought a new headset wid a mic so here's what probably your problem is...especially those who can't seem to uninstall their driver..
1. right click on the speaker icon and go to recording devices
2. select any of the microphones in the list
3. click on properties
4. go to the levels tab
5. unmute your microphone and voila..microphone works :)
either the headset is not supported by Vista, or you need to right click on both speaker icons, normally coloured red and black and in the properties you need to see if your headset is listed as one of the microphone input devices, if you need to make the Logitech headset the default mic and not the windows generic mic.
If you do not see it in the properties then it may not be recognised by Vista.
Yes you do indeed need to have Vista Drivers, That said sometimes the XP drivers MAY work if they and the software are installed in XP Compatibility Mode. Vista has been a nightmare for us in the Computer repair industry... one can only hope that all driver issues are addressed in any service packs to come? I doubt it tho...It seems a case of out with the old and in with the new...wheather ya like it or not.
