Question about Jenn-Air JGR8850 Gas Kitchen Range

Open Question

Oven temperature fluctuates

My Jenn-Aire electric oven fluctuates between 335 and 395 degrees when set at 350. What is an acceptable deviation from set point? Is it adjustable? I know I can reset the mid point (currently 365), but what about sensitivity? Additionally, can you tell me what the set point means? Is that the upper limit, lower limit, or average?

SOURCE: I can't get the oven temp to set on my Jenn Aire eletric range

I was looking to see what kinds of problems the JES9860 electric slide in was having. I am not sure if this is your model, but if you go to the Jenn Air site, you can find your model, click on it, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on SPECS & LITERATURE, its to the right of "features". You should be able to Download the manual on the guide there and that shouldhelp you to set the temp correctly. If anyone has any feedback of the JES9860 as far as if they like it, hate it or otherwise, can you please post. I'm getting ready to make a huge committment. Thanks much and good luck.

SOURCE: Jenn-aire s176 electric oven will not hold set temperature

There is a small cooling fan inside the unit that keeps the relay card cool. If the fan is not operating, the relay panel overheats. If you run the down draft fan and the problem occurs less, you probably have a bad cooling fan.

Make sure that the connections are secure and if that is not the issue, then you may be looking at power relay board issues.

How close should the temp control hold the temp

Generally the oven temperature will fluctuate as much as 30 degrees above or below the set temperature. The longer the oven is on, the less the temperature fluctuates. If you measure the highest and lowest temperatures readings with a thermometer after the oven has been preheated at least 20 minutes, you should come up with an average temperature somewhere within about 10 degrees of the set temperature. You can calibrate most ovens up to 35 degrees higher or lower if it is off. Any more than that requires replacing parts.

Oven temp fluctuates

It is normal for the thermal device to turn on and off. Obtaining a steady temp is not always possible. When setting a temperature on some ovens, they have what is called a tolerance point. That means a set temperature has a range of a few degrees up or down. At the Down point, the oven is triggered to energize the coils and bring the interior of the oven back to the settings desired. The other factor is opening the oven and allowing cool air to enter, or in some cases a leaking door seal allows air to enter and heat to escape.

The oven doesn't come close to keeping a REASONABLE temperature. It fluctuates sometimes 75-100 degrees. I'm not talking about opening the door and then waiting to re-establish the temperature it was set...

If you just bought it, have it replaced, or repaired under warranty. If it is an old oven, replace the temp probe first (if it electric) It senses the temp inside oven, It is the least expensive part of the fix. If that doesn't work, replace thermostat/temp control board. When you replace a board, you replace the probe too. It will be needed either way. If just changing the probe works, you saved yourself some money.

Does not hold oven temperature

I have the same problem. I had a repairman come out and they told me it was the control panel and thermo sensor. Replaced both and still didn't fix the problem! Can't return the parts and now into the stove for over $370! I wish I had put that money towards a new stove :-(

5 yr old Jenn Air Electric oven won't maintain oven temperature

Technician just left our house with same issue. Jenn-Air had issued a technical bulletin as the temperature probe is mounted directly to the heating element, and measures the heat of the element, not the oven. Their fix is a revised temperature probe that goes at a 90 degree angle away from the heating element.

If your temperature is consistent, just off by a set amount of degrees, there is an adjustment you can make at the control panel.

The light and temperature display are very dim and hard to see.

We own a Jenn-Aire model W27400W oven. The display module has gradually gone dim over a period of several months prior to the end of the warranty, and the display is no longer visible. It is apparent that several Jenn-Aire oven models use the same display. Does Anyone else have the same problem, and If so, are they willing to join a class-action suit against Jenn-Aire with us?
