Over feeding of pellets

The problem we are having is over feeding. We have overhauled the stove, cleaned over and over. No matter what we do, when we turn the stove on it lights fine after at least two times then starts to over feed pellets.

We have a St. Croix stove. This is our second year of having it. Not many problems the first year. This year we are having problems with over feeding of the burn pot. It will burn well for half the night, then during the night overload. Or a few hours with no problem, then overload on and off. My husband cleans it every day. Has torn it apart to clean, has spoken with stove cleaners that have offered suggestions, played with the damper, etc. He thinks he has it fixed, then it will start to overload (this occurs on all settings). It is extremely frustrating.

Had the same problem which I discovered this weekend..........

I have an eleven year old Afton Bay....the versa grate was not moving. I look into the inner workings of the stove and saw a bracket which had broken off....

The bracket was attached to the versa grate rod and made contact with the cam system in the stove...this is what moves the versa grate...........

I called my dealer, the part costs about $12.00 and looks like it can be replaced with out having a service guy come out..........

Hope this helps

My pellet stove is makin a lot of ashes and the flame isnt working as fast as it should.what is the problem?

Air, air, air! If the pellets don't get the forced air from the fan they burn slowly. Also if the air vent is blocked or partially blocked you will have the same symptoms!

My pellet stove will start but the auger will not drop pellets. What should I do.

You need to replace the auger motor. Go to fasco .com they may have one. Or enco.com I have a pellet stove and i have replaced both the auger motor and the motor that turns the hopper.

Black dots on glass top stove

They are very hard to keep clean. I've had mine for 2 years and although I like the idea of the flat surface, living with it is a different matter. I use the cleaners but it is still not clean. I would not buy another one like the one I currently have.

Why dose my pellet stove keeps going out.It is not out of pellets. It will run for awhile then gose out.

This can be caused by wind. Especially if the vent is a direct vent, or in the center of the wall of your house. Has this happened since installed or just started? If since installed, probably not installed properly. If recent, just needs a good cleaning.

Have you cleaned the Tee Cleanout at the bottom?
