Acer Aspire 5920 will not start up either in safe mode or normal

Hi,

I got my acer aspire 5920 in august this year and have had no problems so far. I know its still under warrenty, but its from amazon and i dont want to just send it back and get a replacement as all my work is on there.

Basically last night i went to swtich it on and i got a blue error screen and it said the system needed to shut down and then it switched off.
Then when i turned it on again i got the option of starting it in safe mode or normal mode, so i tried safe mode, this brought me to a black screen with the cursor on it, but the cursor wouldnt move, after a long time a grey box appeared saying there was a program error and the program needed to shut dont, and click ok to shut it down. I couldnt move the cursor so i hit enter to ok it and i got the same black screen for a long time, then it took me back to the safe mode and normal mode option screen, so tried normal mode this time and the same blue error screen appear and it shut down, so i turned it on again and then chose safe mode again and all i got was a black screen with the cursor on it and its stayed like that for about an hour now. I don't know what t do, as its christmas time none of the computer shops are open and i dont want to switch it off!! Please help!!!!!!

Merry Xmas!!! x

I am a computer shop and I am open. I cannot tell you a solution over this means because it could be just about anything and it sounds like it is very important that your data remains in tact. Email me at info@antiochpc.com along with your location and I can see about sending someone there to get you taken care of tomorrow or Monday.

I'm not sure what you want to "switch of", but to get to Safe Mode, tap F8 as your machine boots.

Good Morning: I have an Acer Aspire 5920

Hello,

As by your description, the FN F7 key combo did not solve the problem. Please restart the machine , press F8 then select from the list "Safe mode" then press enter. Then see how the Touch pad reacts in Safe mode. If it works perfectly in safe mode, we can assume you have a software problem that is preventing it from working in normal windows mode.

Please download and install the latest BIOS for your machine. The E525 has a issue where the TP just stops working, upgrading the BIOS solves the issue on the E525...

Do you see the white cursor on the black background? If so, press CONTROL+ALT+DELETE keys. If the Task Manager window appears. You can start the PC from the CD/DVD and choose Startup Repair from the choices given.

Screen jumping on acer aspire 5920

Hi,

First boot in safe mode and the display resolution will be minimal if the screen appears ok with big fonts then try and adjust the normal resolution but not high resolution like 640x480 with 256 colors, if it works then you acer laptop screeen is fine but the exactly display drivers to be reloaded else there is a problem with your laptop screen which needs to be replaced

I can not get my Acer Aspire 5920 to load after turning on.

Try to see if it will boot in safe mode, by pressing F8 while the laptop boots up. If it allows you to boot in safe mode, try to do a system restore when you know that laptop was working with no problems. You can do this by clicking on start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date and time when you know that the laptop was working with no problems. If this does not work or you cannot boot in safe mode (be aware that everything will look big in safe mode and when the computer reboots if asked how you want to start windows, choose start windows normally), try doing a recovery. This will restore your computer to the factory default settings when you purchased it. You can do this by booting the computer, when the acer screen appears hold down the ALT key and continuously press F10, this will open the recovery manager and you can restore it from there.

I hope this helps
