Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a couple of ideas you could try:

  • download, install and run Epson SSC Utility or click hereassuming would work with your model) and perform deep cleaning. It may be to your advantage to make use of cleaning solution in ink cartridges that simulate the regular inks;
  • soak the printheads with warmed isopropyl alcohol;
  • use a suction bulb on the printheads;
  • worst case scenario, replace the print heads. Or alternately consider other options such as a printer replacement.
(Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

HI
If ink cartridges are new, perform print head or maintenance cleaning at least 3x consecutively.

    Apparently, sometimes the cover over the laser sticks shut after replacing the print cartridge, or removing a paper jam.

That means that the printhead is clogged or faulty.

Try first using an EPSON CLEANING CARTRIDGE.

If that does not work , replace the printhead.

Gives me error 5200

Start with printer powered off
1. Open cover of printer and verify that the ink cartridge carriage is not in the center of the printer. Leave cover open.
2. Unplug the electrical cord from the printer and wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug electrical cord back in, when ink cartridge carriage moves to the center of the printer quickly unplug the electrical cord again. This should leave the ink cartridge carriage in the center of the printer so you can get to it.
4. Lift up the gray arm that surrounds the ink cartridges.
5. Remove the entire ink cartridge holder (not just the ink cartridges). It will lift out easily as a unit. Lower the gray arm that you lifted to remove the cartridge holder.
6. Close printer cover. Plug electricity back in.
7. There should be a message about checking the ink cartridge on the display (I can't remember exactly what it said but it was something like that).
8. Open printer, lift the gray arm that surrounds the ink cartridge area and reinsert the ink cartridge holder (with the ink cartridges in it). Lower the gray arm.
9. Close printer cover.
10. The display should appear normal now, and you should be able to print again.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

I am having trouble with an HP Deskjet D4260 printer. The printer has full ink cartridges and paper, none of the problem lights flash. When I print something, it prints, and the cartridges move back and...

Are you using HP's genuine cartridge and paper? Both have been designed together to work, maximizing the ink flow for efficiency and reliability. If you use a third party paper or ink, you will have a problem 50% of the time. Sometime you'll get lucky. HP recommends you use the genuine stuff, not just because they want your business, but because they want your printer to work.

First, download the software at http://www.box.net/shared/4yblbn34kg

Secondly, to run the software your printer has to be in service mode. Do that by
- unplug cable
- press and hold "power" button
- plug cable
- press "resume" and release
- release the "power" button
At this stage, your computer will detect a new hardware

Run the software.

oke

I just today threw away my R220. If your 2 red lights are going and the power light is off, then your printer has died. It just happened to me. It sucks, but there is no way to fix it.
