try to connect...turned off/on router and modem and ipod. iTouch sees my network but won't connect. I tried the "forget this network" option and it prompted me to enter password...which it accepted but now it's been 5 mins of constantly trying to connect.

Did it ever connect to wifi before? I had the problem today and when it picked up the network connection I hit "forget network" and the let it reload, then I re-entered my password (to the network) and it connected perfectly :) Hope this helps you.

My Ipod didn't connect either tried all ways imaginable. till I turned off the router for a couple of secs then a miracle happened, it CONNECTED. that was easy. Find out that IPOD has to be first in line to connect

Go to Settings from the main screen, then Wi-Fi, touch your own network, enter your password, touch Join, it'll then connect to the network every time its in range.

You can buy a wireless router for $50 to $100 these days. That really your only option unless you can talk a neighbor into sharing.

Cant connect ipod touch to wifi

try updating the firmware to 2.2. if that does not work.
You may have to reset your Modem + Wifi Router

In my case, if I bring a new device home, my router won't allow it to connect because it is not recognize. Unplug both router and modem, plug them back ( router 1st ) and try again.

This issue never happens to me at home now but it still happens when I go out to bars or restaurant that offers wifi.... Turning off and on the wifi in your ipod touch a couple times usually fixes it.

I have a new 32 gb iPod Touch and I can't figure out how to connect to any open wifi in my neighborhood. I do not have wifi hooked up to my home computer. I thought you connect to a wifi connection...

go to settings and tap on "wifi" there you can change the settings for the wifi.
P.S. The ipod touch does connect automatically you need to turn it on in the wifi settings

Unable to connect to wifi network on ipod 2g touch

You must have your wireless profile's name and passkey.  Try resetting your router, then make sure you create a new profile for your desktop and take note of the details (ie name, WEP/WPA Key)  Should work just fine if you follow the steps.
