My daughter got one of these piece of @3%^@# players for christmas. She was able to put songs on it and listen to it for a couple of days. But now the thing wont take a charge, wont turn on or anything. I did the firmware thing and when it formatted it the screen changed colors but now it still wont do anything. And since we do not have the reciept or the box for proof of purchase we cannot use the warranty to get the @#$% thing fixed. Any help with this would be great

I returned the first one to the Walmart and they gave me a new one. Now this one is doing the same thing, it is dead computer doesnot recognize it, and I have jumped through all the hoops that customer service suggested, was treated like an idiot and told if it was my fault I would have to pay 29.95 to get this 2week old thing fixed. I am the most patient kind thing on the planet but I am fed up with my BARGIN from black friday.

My rca m4208 is was stuck on initializing. I tried to update the firmware but the computer still didn’t recognize the player. Now it wont even turn on.

I have the exact same problem. First my mp3 player wouldn't intialize. When I downloaded the upgrade it started to work. Then, a few weeks later, it did it again but now it won't work with the computer and I already had the upgrade downloaded to it so that won't work. I tried asking the support for the company website but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

This link below is for the EasyRip Installer software itself.

This link is for the firmware updater for EasyRip software.

See if this helps any. It appears that there are various problems with these players & it takes some "finess" to get them working properly. Even after the above software & updates, I am still banging my head on the wall. Good luck!!!

My bios can not detect usb configuration why? my usb ports can not be Used?

If the BIOS cannot detect any USB ports then this laptop cannot have an USB port as a boot device, because the firmware BIOS does not support this.
The USB port is useable only when Windows is up and running when the USB driver is operating.

RCA pearl th1602-a with new battery will not power on. Old battery will power on, but freeze at pearl logo. Player dosn't power on when plugged into USB of computer

Try a firmware recover. Download the firmware update from the RCA website and install the app. Start the updater and connect the player holding the PLAY button until it gets detected.
This is a similar player with the recovery procedure explained:

I bought new ipod which i connected to pc but for hardly some time battery got charged and then now its not at all working whts the problem?

Try to use other cable, maybe the cable are bad, witch is not working, you may plug you transcend direct to your motherboard USB port. Some of the port there are not working properly you need to plug it again if it does not work in the first try.

Good luck !

Firmware for my rca opal m4208rd

This is a very common problem with the RCA Opal.
You need to goto the RCA website and download the latest firmware.
Download the firmware from there. Plug in your mp3 player. (don't worry if it cant be found bye the PC it will when the firmware installs)
After the mp3 player is plugged into the usb device of your pc install the newly downloaded firmware. And it should work fine.

After a firmware update my RCA M4208RD-B won't work.

Download the firmware again.
after its download get the firmware you just download and install that one. Make sure mp3 player is hooked to your pc.
Go to add hardware.
Have windows look for MTP device. while the firmware is installing.
after its installed leave it hooked to pc for about 1 hour to give it a little charge. You should see a new folder Opal.
Let me know if that helped

Make sure the lock switch on the back is in the unlocked position. For the player to say "Loading," especially the first time you plug it into the computer, is normal - your computer is communicating with the player, installing drivers, and trying to load the Easy Rip Software. If it stays on loading past 10 minutes, however, something is not right. If you have selected to open the device automatically using Windows Media Player, you are headed for trouble, especially if you have more music and other files on your computer than the mp3 player can handle. If you have accidentally done this, disable auto-sync in Windows Media Player.
If you have checked the above, and you are still having problems, disconnect the mp3 player from the computer. Hold in the power button for 10 seconds or more to reset the mp3 player. Try plugging the mp3 player into the computer again. If it stays on loading for more than 10 minutes, unplug the mp3 player, go into the settings menu and change the mode from MSC to MTP or vice versa. If it still misbehaves when you replug the mp3 player into the computer, download the latest Easy Rip software from RCA's website and update your player's firmware - take note of the section they have on Windows Vista if you have Windows Vista. Good luck!

I'm still having problems with my RCA M4208RD-B MP3 player

You can get a starter kit which has a charger that you plug in that solves the power issue. Once you get it charged try checking to see if your computer is set to automatically detect new hardware. Also did you get a chance to install easy rip or did that not work either. another thing you can try is to open Windows Media Player when the player is pluged in and see if WMP picks it up, if it does then you can add songs that way.

RCA TH1602 MP3 Player in locked

You should be able to force the Pearl into recovery mode by removing the battery, then hold down the "Play" button while inserting into USB port, after a few seconds, Windows should detect "USB Human Interface Device" (see Device Manager). Now you should be able run the firmware update. Worked for mine after it froze up one day and would not be detected as a USB device by Windows.
