Question about Actiontec GT704WG Wireless Router (gs583ad3-01)

Not working Recently verizon network stalled and my router stopped working. It started with a red light, and my wife called verizon and they told her to unplug the phone line then replug the phone line and it worked for a day. Now it doesn't light up at all. The Router is just over 1 year and it seems strange that it would stop working at the exact same time the network went down. Is it a fixable problem, or time for a new one?

No its not the time to change the Router. --We have verify some of the settings on the router first. --also check for following. --Did we had any system upgradation on the computer? --Do we use windows vista? --the router can be upgraded if required --you can also get the links to upgrade the router. --if you are using Verizon you can call the free calling no. 1-800-567-6789 --its a free technical support from verizon dsl --Ask the tech to check with the version of the router --If required he will upgrade for you.

Go into your routers settings, usually by typing it's ip address in your web browser and save all the settings to your hard drive or make a note of all the settings. Look to the connections menu and see if your ISP's ip address and dns servers are showing and not showing noughts, if it does show noughts your isp is at fault, if there is dns server numbers showing,look to see if there is an option to restart the router, if restart it and try again. On the router normally at the rear there should be a hard reset button which should be held in for atleast 10 seconds and let the router reboot. If non of this works, then the router is probably faulty

You didnt mention via cord(Lan Cable)have you ever used it? is it works?
Ok let assumed the cord can access the internet.
1.Enter your device manager
2.locate Network Adapter >> there should be 2 or 3 network adapter type
3.If you found any question mark with yellow colour >> right click on it >>> update driver
4.toshiba has application built in called zero configuration >>> open it, and try setting something matched with are you looking for ( sometimes the program stuck on something else network adapter eg. LAN cord or built in Wifi

Forget what things do.
Your vehicle has never been properly diagnosed.
You need to find a local repair shop that works on a lot of Nissans and is up to speed on current technology.
To start with a stalling issues and go to a cam sensor,trans,etc, tells me that you haven't found mechanics with the necessary skills to repair todays high tech vehicles.

if your using lenovo and is an Ideapad Y series or a G series Laptop look for the program called lenovo readycom in the control panel add remove programs if you have XP and if vista go to control panel and look for programs and features this goes the same with win7 just uninstall Lenovo Readycom 4.0 or 5.0 and as well look for a program called network magic if that program is present then uninstall this as well then restart your laptop, try connecting again ^_^ happy surfing ..

Verizon AGT704WG modem/router conflicts w/ T-Mobile WRTU54G-TM


your Verizon AGT704WG is a gateway, meaning, it's a modem that has router functions (wireless, support for multiple pc's etc.). If you want to connect your T-Mobile wireless router, it would cause certain conflicts with your Verizon 704WG because it is also a wireless router. That's why you can't configure it.

So, if you want to connect your T-Mobile wireless router, you would have to set up your 704WG first to BRIDGE MODE. Which means you would have to disable its routing functions so that only the T-Mobile will function as your router and will not cause any conflict.

If you want to set your GT704WG to bridge mode, follow these steps.

1. Hardwire (connected using ethernet cable) your compuer to your 704WG.
2. On your Internet Explorer or Firefox, type in 192.168.1.1 (default address for your GT704WG). You will then see a verizon page which is the configuration page of your gateway (for newer modems, the background is usually red and black).
3. When prompted, enter username and password. default username is ADMIN, password is PASSWORD or if you've called Verizon tech support, password would be ADMIN (lower case).
4. Click on the MY NETWORK icon from the top bar.
5. Click NETWORK CONNECTIONS from the left navigation box.
6. Click BROADBAND CONNECTIONS (DSL)
7. Under the VC’s section, click the EDIT icon.
8. Select BRIDGE on the PROTOCOL drop down box.
9. Select ROUTED BRIDGE in the BRIDGE MODE field.
10. Click on APPLY and then click on YES to confirm reset.

You would notice that the wireless light on your gt704WG will be off. That's ok because that would indicate that your modem is in bridge mode.

Powercycle (turn off modem for 30 secs and turn it back on) your Actiontec.

Recently purchased dsl through verizon. My wifes computer in the next room works great, however, my computer will not go on-line, nor do I have any verizon icons, etc. the router is hooked up to my...


  • Do you have a modem in addition to your router or just a router?
  • You will not see any icons on your desktop unless, you used the installation cd on your pc.
  • If people pc is a dial up account, which I suspect it is, then it has nothing to do with your issue.?

Failure to Connect


Lights on your router are indicators if the router is working properly or not. These lights are being controlled the the FIRMWARE of the router. If your router is no longer operating normally, you can do a FIRMWARE UPGRADE on your router. Firmware upgrade is a solution but sometimes harmful(it could kill your router). Make sure that Verizon already exhausted all possible solutions to your problem.
If a Firmware upgrade do not solve youe problem, getting a new router is the next solution. If the new router do not fix the problem, YOU HAVE TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER INTERNET PROVIDER.
