we do not overload dryer, we only put a small amount in as it was taking too long for a bigger load to dry. we have checked all filters and cleaned them all. we also checked tubes at back. why would there be no water collecting in the tray? when we first gor the dryer, the tray would fill quite quickly, now it is bone dry and clothes take all day to dry. please help, our washing is piling up and we cant afford to get anyone out to fix this. thankyou

i solved the problem, the large filter on bottom left was blocked, i took this out and ran hot water through it the clear. now works like new.

you did not tell me how to clear that filter, how was i supposed to know you had to run water through it a certain way. this was advised in the m,anual which i downloaded from the hotpoint site. so just telling me to check filters is not enough when you do not say location of filters and how to clean them. but thanks anyway.

Check all filters and air vents at front and rear of m/c, to make sure they are all clear., do not overload, make sure you have selected right heat setting, and the correct drying time.
It is not usual to feel air blowing out of dryer, because it is a condenser dryer.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

At the rear of the front lint filter is a small hole that can get blocked with fluff and gunge, remove the filter draw, reach in there and clear as much as you can, get a plastic bag tie or something similar and feel for the hole and poke clear.

If this is blocked then this could be the cause of your problem

Glad to hear you solved your prob, if you recall I said make sure all filters are clear, and you assured me they were, apparently this was not the case.

Under the circumstances,I would have thought my solution warrented a FIXYA.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

My hotpoint ctd00has stopped heating up how do i

You will find the thermostats located at the rear of dryer.
Remove cover, and you will see them adjacent to the heater element, change them both, even if only 1 is faulty.
Please rate my solution.
Thankyou.

Hotpoint tumble dryer CTD00 timer

It is not a difficult job...the thing to keep you out of trouble is to make sure you get the right timer switch, then remove one wire at a time.
Remove one wire from the old timer and put it on the new timer, there is not that many wires for your timer.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
http://www.partselect.com/
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

How to fix Hotpoint CTD00 Tumble Dryer?

http://www.fixya.com/support/t232066-hotpoint_ctd00_trips_power

The link above should solve your problem. I have the same problem and my parents who bought the same tumble dryer also had the same problem. Its water backing up to the fan then its hitting the heating element which is tripping the electric off.

At the back of the Tumble dryer near the bottom you'll see a panel that has about 8 screws that you can taqke off as well as a small panel that cover the pivet for the drum. If you unscrew this you will see the fan and heating element and no doubt a small puddle of water and damp dust that has clung onto the panel. You should dry this with kitchen roll and clean the old dust off then carefully turn the tumble dryer on (at your own risk lol) or you can take the advice of the person who posted the link above and use a hair dryer. This will stop the element getting wet and tripping off.

Also there is a water reservoir to the right of the panel i mentioned. If you prise the clips open and remove the top section you will see the water in the reservoir. If you look inside it on the bottom left hand side there is a little **** that the water drains in from. If you use something like pipe cleaners or a knife and wiggle it about you may have some fluff or hair trapped there that is making the water back up to the fan and causing the tumble dryer to trip off.

Hopefully this willsolve your problem for the time being but the filter in the bottom of the dryer needs to be cleaned thoroughly every week or so to stop this happening again.

Personally i think this is a major design flaw and the tumble dryer should be recalled but Hotpoints aftercare service is awful to say the least so lesson learnt, don't buy a hotpoint tumble dryer!
