Re: I got a 20gb xbox and the is no video but sound
Make sure the video connection is in good and check the video cable. Maybe the cable you are using has gone bad or the connector on the game side has gotten flakey. The XboX is nothing more than a small desktop PC with a proprietary OS, so it is also possible that the video card portion of the box has gone bad. I don't remember if it is an ATI or an NVidia chipset but it is pretty much a built in PC video card the same as you would find in a notebook or a mini system with integrated video. If the video card is bad, you will probably do best to find a used XBoX that the hard drive has died in and combine the good parts from the two units. I think MS still repairs them but they want a fortune to fix them.

The towel trick is just that a TRICK. overheating your console will shorten the life of most of the electrolytic capacitors. and if it works it will very temporary.
First thing to try goto gamestop and buy a multi a/v adpter .that will have many plugs . plug the xbox 360 adapter in and then plug the S-video into your set and some time you can get video single from this line even if the main Red /white/yellow/ line are dead . and since you have sound from red /white you should be ok.
If the s-video has no output then your going to have to do what's called an x clamp mod on it or have a shop re-flow the G.P.U. this is the most durable repair.
umm im just throwing suggestions out there, have you tried the sound in all of the sound ports in your tv? and if you already have all i can say is try putting the xbox 360 on another tv to see if your cables are good, if not im guessing its your tv. If you have a newer xbox 360 with a hdmi port just get one of those cables they work great as well.
Sounds like you have an incorrect output signal from the Xbox or a fried chipset in the Xbox. Test the Xbox on another TV or monitor, test another video source on that same connection, if both of those fail, replace the Xbox. Hope it helps!
check your game for deep scratches on the cd if there is none, then your best bet is shipping it back to microsoft or there is actually a company that fixes your 360 for a cheaper price. just google xbox 360 recall and if you look through the pages of signatures you will find an advertisement for 360 recalls go to that and call the #, i hope it works out for ya.
