Question about Mitsubishi VS-45605 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

PIP function The PIP circuit board on Mitsubishi projection Tv's go bad and may render the picture to go out completely. I know a PIP circuit card is available that will bypass the PIP function and fix the problem. My Tv is still fuctioning, however the PIP channel scrolls. Should I replace the board before it goes completely bad or leave it alone? Rexman

Re: PIP function

The Main Picture will eventually go out or at least become distorted. Generally the PIP circuit can be repaired by replacing a couple of capacitors. Probably a job for a Pro but it will need to be done at some point.

Mitsubishi tv model VS6061 rear projection with rolling picture.

I know this is an old thread, but I would like to post this information in the hope that someone will find it useful.
I just finished fixing this problem on my 1994 VS-6061... the problem is the PIP (Picture In Picture) board located on the Power Signal board. The PIP board contains the numbers 530B552. I bypassed the PIP board by following the directions I found at the following link:
"Plug in a 4.7ufd @ 35v filter cap (+)at pin 5,(-)at pin 11. Plug in a .01ufd(any voltage) between pin 7 and 9. Just plug the caps into the socket, where the PIP board was mounted (they don't need to be soldered). Just don't let the leads from the two capacitors touch, as they cross each other. The 0.01 cap is non-polarity, so either way it plugged is fine. Basically you will bypass y-signal through 4.7u, in pin 5, out pin 11, and bypass c-signal in pin 7, out pin 9 of the PIP socket.”

The bypass requires 2 capacitors: One 4.7ufd @ 35v and one Non-Polar 0.01ufd @ any voltage.
Remove the PIP board, then plug the two capacitors into the socket where the PIP board was mounted: plug the 4.7ufd capacitor with (+)at pin 5,(-)at pin 11 and plug in the non-polar .01ufd capacitor between pins 7 and pin 9.
If there is a ground wire (possibly brown) soldered to one of the tin cases on the PIP board, then you should connect this ground wire to the PIP socket either at pin 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 which are grounds of the socket.
This PIP board was used in many Mitsubishi televisions and they were plagued with problems...This is why many of these older Mitsubishi televisions had similar problems…
Good luck

Whats a quick solution

The problem may be related to bad capacitors on the PIP module. This is a commom fault as vertical sync runs through the PIP board and this is the symptom of the pip board having bad capacitors the TV rolls.

You might have a bad PIP board, When you say NO picture. Is it totally blacked out or blacked out with "blue snow". The PIP has been alot of problems in this chassis and you will experience what your describing. Capacitors are the root of the PIP boards failure. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Mitsibishi 50" vs50607 convergence?

Rolling picture could be a pip module problem as both horizontal and vertical sync goes through the PIP module. These sets have been known to have bad caps in the pip board causeing loss of vertical sync.If you need any more info let me know.

Sound no picture

You can buy a PIP circuit card on the internet(about $15.00) that can replace your current PIP card. It will bypass the PIP function which is most likely the problem. Instructions for instal come with new card. It's a relatvely easy task if you are in anyway technically capable. Worth the try. Rexman
