Thanx for the solution but in the meantime I stumbled across routerlogin.com(not .net) and that let me use the netgear smart wizard which has worked a treat .

Thanks for all the help though.!!

"You should then be able to type this in the address bar, and login to your router using the default password of password "

Just to clarify - I meant the address bar of a web browser of course :)

Hi! Not sure what the problem is but will try and help you make some headway. A hard reset doesn't usually mess up the router IP address, which should still behttp://192.168.1.1; anyway let's see what we can do.

Make sure the computer has a wired attachment to the router, and the router is switched on. Go to Start > (Run) > type cmd in the box, click OK. In the command line window that appears, type ipconfig and press return. The Default Gateway shows your router address. (I'm assuming your computer runs Windows)

You should then be able to type this in the address bar, and login to your router using the default password of password.

If you’d like to download a manual, you can find one on this page , bottom of left hand menu - or you can use the troubleshooting links.

If this doesn't help and you’re still having problems, please post again ….All the best

Hi,
You can do this manually by putting a paper clip or something sharp into the little reset hole in the back and holding for 15 seconds, then waiting for all the lights to stop flashing and remain on.
Or you can open your internet browser and type 192.168.2.1 (if that is wrong for your router try 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) and if it asks you for a username and password, just try admin and password (or just google your router model followed by 'default username and password').
There will be a menu listing for rebooting or restoring factory settings, then you enable that and wait for the process to complete. This can take up to 30 seconds after it says 100% so be patient, it will tell you when you can connect to the internet.

Good luck!

Cannot find wep key on net gear dg834g v4

to find the wep key of a netgear router, you first need to ensure that you are connected to the netgear router. after ensuring that you are connected, open a browser, internet explorer or firefox, type 192.168.1.1 or www.routerlogin.net it would now ask you for a username and password. username is " admin " password is the word " password " itself. you would see the netgear page next. click on " wireless settings " on the leftside of the screen. there you would see your WEP key on security options

I cant find the wep key number for my internet

A WEP is a password that you have setup on your router.

If you do not have this information you will need to reset the router.

You can reset as below:

Push the "Default Reset" button on the back of the Netgear WGR614-V6. The button is located on the back of the unit, to the left of the external antenna. You may need to use a pin or the tip of a pencil to access the button.

Continue holding the button in until you see the "power" indicator on the front of the unit turn off and back on. This takes approximately ten seconds.

Let go of the button. The Netgear WGR614-V6 shuts off and turns back on. Allow several seconds for this process to complete.

Log into the router using the default password by opening a Web browser and navigating to the address "192.168.1.1." Enter the password "password" to log in.

To log on to your router you will need to connect the ethernet cable to your computer and router.

Dont forget to assign a new WEP key to secure your wirless network.

Hoper this helps.

Need my wep code

the WEP code was set either by you during the setup of the wireless modem, or by the manufacturer. If you set the code and cannot remember it, try resetting the modem back to its factory defaults, the manual for the modem will tell you how to do this. If you no longer have the manual, go to the netgear website and download a manual through the support portal.. Don't be tempted to leave wep turned off, without it, anyone can access your network and your internet connection, steal your identity, bank details etc or simply use up your download limits..

Netgear wgr614uk wep code

If you are the origional owner of the router, then you had set the WEP key, which is a password meant to prevent others from stealing your internet. If you still cant do it, Go to your routers configuration and restore it to factory settings. Then you can set your own WEP Tkip style passcode and connect the Wii wirelessly and correctly.
