Question about Hotpoint First Edition FEW12 Front Load Washer
Door locked on machine. Has finished cycle so no draining problem. Have turned the machine off but not at the mains. Door handle moves when I tried to open the door, light flashes saying door locked.
Any help would be appreciated. Read somewhere else to disconnect from the mains to see if this resets the board?

I'm not familiar with this machine with out a picture, but does it have a control knob that would allow you to advance through the cycles? If so you should be able to go to a spin cycle and empty the unit. How long did you leave it unplugged? Sometimes it requires several minutes to loose its memory. If not you may need to empty the water manually as it may be a fail safe to keep you from getting the floor all wet. Take a bucket and lift the drain hose out of the house drain pipe and lower it into the bucket to empty. It may take several trips. This will not work unless the hose comes out of the bottom of the machine which I think yours does. Once empty try plugging the unit back in and see if that helps. If not the main control processor may have taken a voltage spike and has suffered irreversable damage and will need to be replaced. Please give me more info..

Had this same problem on BWD129, had a tech in and there is generally only one cause. Something stuck in the impeller (pump) in our case it was a shirt collar insert but is normally coins. If the machine makes any noise on the spin, this is likely the cause too (but it hasn't jammed.. yet)
Look at the front of the machine. In the bottom right corner there is a black cover.
Tilt the machine backwards so any water would run to the back of the machine.
Put a bowl under the filter cover and use a pair of pliars (other sites had said they use a special tool so I hadn't done it) to remove the cover slowly.
Remove cover & filter, check inside and remove the blockage.
This is a no fault found tech call and will set you back £106 + VAT.

if clothes are still in washer? and machine has finished cycles? then handle broke so unable to open ??? your best option is to unplug/ and if necessary disconnect water supply hoses then remove the top screws from rear panel which also secure the top panel as you will observe ? then pull backwards top panel and loft off ? you now have access/visual of the door catch inside front machine look?? at the catch and you will see how it locks ? you can lever the catch gently and door opens to fit a new door catch is easy diy and not expensive if you are confident usual problem these break ? is the time delay micro switch sticks with age /moisture try dw40 and work plunger b4 you refit door back after replacing handle/catch assy
