Once you have all the wireless
settings of the router, you are ready to connect the play station or the
x-box to the wireless network.
Now go to the settings page of thePLAY STATION
NETWORK SETTINGS ==> INTERNET CONNECTION SETTINGS ==> WIRELESS SETTINGS==> If you get confirmation screen displayed stating that you will be
disconnected from the Internet. click YES ==> select EASY ==> select WIRELESS==> SCAN ==> you will
see your SSID ( wireless network name)==> select the
security settings ( router wireless settings)==> enter the KEY ==> select the IP address settings EASY ==> save your settings ==> Test the
Click "Start" on your computer. Then select "Run." Windows Vista users can type in the word "run" to pull up the program. After you open the program, type "CMD." Type "IPCONFIG" on the command prompt and press "Enter." The screen will display your network settings. Write the number down next to the line "Default Gateway." Close the "Run" program and open a new Internet browser on your computer. Type the DNS number you wrote down into the address bar and hit "Enter." You'll be taken to a site for setting up your connection.
Click the menu selection on the right side of the screen that says "Wireless." Next click the option for registering a new station. Name the new station and you will be asked for the Mac address. Power on your PSP and select "Network Connection." The console will show the Mac address under the network settings. Enter this address into your computer browser.
Submit the information and your PSP will be a registered device. Now connect to the Internet with the handheld and you will not receive the error.
To check what your DNS number is. Go to your computer then go to the (Start) Programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt. Click on it so it brings it up. Type in IPconfig/all this will allow you to see your internet address as well as your DNS number.
The other questions. You can have it either plugged directly or through a router. To make sure the particular port is working on your router try plugging something else in to that port. If it doesn't work its a faulty port so try a different port.
