I have an ET1641-02w. At the time it was okay but now it is a dino. What I need to know is how can I get this old thing upto date enough to handle windows 7 home premium? Can aford to go out and spend a mess of money on a new computer or I would have instead of writting this. Windows 8 is due out soon so I am shooting for the stars with this machine. Also one other thing is this an ATX or ATX mini mother board?
If you want to upgrade to Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium simply purchase the software at your local computer and upgrade.
If possible install more RAM, your computer will need around 4GB total memory.
Click here to check board size.
See the heading Variants:
Your board will either bee shown as Orange or Green as shown in the picture in the link.
Take care!

Yes you can do it. I like to purchase my computer parts from Newegg.com most of the time you order the parts on mon...and they there tue...really. Their prices are consistently low.
Now how to select a motherboard...pick one that will use your processor and memory. As for the power supply, they are standard as for physical size, but with dell you may have to do a little mod here or there, nothing serious. the tricky part for you is removing and reinstalling the processor, it nothing real exciting, just use caution not to bend pins. If you have a friend that has done this sort of thing before this is the one area i would advise you to have a little help or do a bit of reading on how to install a processor and heat sync.
I wish you were close by, I'd tell you to bring her over here and you could operate...really you can do it, just take your time and get a basic understand on what and why.
You can pick up a decent motherboard for around $50 and a say 450watt power supply unit for $35-50 I like Antec...anything above 300watts will do. but each of the products is rated by the users at newegg...
Oh well, have at it, you'll do well. good luck
please leave a rating, thank you kindly
