Question about Acer Aspire 5630 Notebook

Open Question

Applications install problem

I have an Aspire 5610. I have a facotry install partition and also backup CD's for the operating system and applications. When it is installing the applications after a reinstall of Vista, it gets to "7/8 Install eRecovery solution" and then just stays like that....hours and hours on end! It has done it twice to me tonight. What might be causing that?

Thanks for any help!

I WOULD LIKE TO RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS TY

You will loose all data you have put on the computer. When you turn it on right at the beginning there is a black screen and there are a few f key options.
They will flash up with the option when you turned it on, before windows kicks in. Take a look at the user manual to find out for sure.
Press the correct f key before windows starts up, then go through the menus in setup (it will look all crappy and dos like) and find restore factory settings (or something like that) and click yes.
It's a great feature, and will completely kill any virus or **** problems you have had and couldn't get rid of.
Hope this helps. I would appreciate your feed back as I do this for fun not pay.

I want to take my laptop back to its factory settings please, how do i do this?

Hi interholspau.
Before I provide the steps to restore the Computer to the Factory settings, let me explain you about the procedure.
All the OEM Computers will be shipped with the Recovery Partition.
This is a hidden partition in the Hard Drive which will have the Operating System, Drivers and pre-installed Applications.
You may re-install the Operating System using this Recovery Partition.
In some Computers, there is also a option to backup the Data using this Recovery Partition.
However, please let me know the exact Model # of the Computer, so that I can provide you the detailed steps.
Hope this helps.
Please feel free to contact for further assistance.

Above is a link for your Service manual, inside is everything you need to know to troubleshoot and repair your machine, this is the manual that us engineers use to repair these units.
This could be your HDD, failed. Work through, the troubleshooting procedures.
Anyway try this below first. Run Acer eRecovery Management Copy the Acer factory default backup disk Image Create backup of the system Create a complete backup Creating an incremental backup Erase a backup point Using the option ‘‘Burn Disk’’ Burn a backup disc with the factory default settings Burn a backup disc with the parameters of user Copy the current system configuration to disc Burn a disc backup software Restore the system Restore system to factory default settings Restore system from backup user Recover the system from CD / DVD Re-install applications / drivers Other means of System Restore No Restore CD / eRecovery / password / ALT + F10 or F10

Gateway laptop reset

Gateway Direct systems went "media-less" back in September 2004. In the event of a system crash users could either 1) restore their systems from the Recovery Partition OR 2) from the backup media that they were prompted to create on first power-up -- which would provide them with up to 5 blank CD-R discs depending on their system's configuration.

On the factory load of the hard drive, the recovery partition will not contain operating system files. It only contains application and driver files.
The first time the recovery partition is used, it prompts the user to insert their System Recovery CD/DVD to copy files from the CD to the recovery partition.
The Drivers and Applications CD is not bootable and does not contain Operating System files.
The System Recovery CD/DVD is bootable but does not contain any application or driver files.
If the end-user erases the hard drive and restores the computer using the System Recovery CD/DVD and an Applications and Drivers CD, the recovery partition is not recreated.

This means that you will need the operating system restore disc FIRST then the recovery partition will work for you

I have an Acer Aspire 5720, ive had it for a year now and it is starting to slow down. I have lost the booklet to it and i need to do a master reset on it. Ive already backed everything up im just finding...

This was taken straight out of the manual for your model, which can be found here.

Acer eRecovery Management
Acer eRecovery Management is a tool to quickly backup and restore the system.
You can create and save a backup of the current system configuration to hard
disk, CD or DVD. You can also backup/restore the factory default image, and
reinstall applications and drivers.

Acer eRecovery Management consists of the following functions:

1 Create backup
2 Burn backup disc
3 Restore and recovery

This chapter will guide you through each process.
Note: This feature is only available on certain models. For systems
that do not have a built-in optical disc burner, plug in an external
optical disc burner before entering Acer eRecovery Management
for optical disc-related tasks.

When using Acer eRecovery Management, you may be prompted to enter the
Empowering Technology password to proceed. The Empowering Technology
password is set using the Empowering Technology toolbar or when first running
Acer eLock Management or Acer eRecovery Management.

Create backup

You can easily create full and fast (incremental) backup images of your system
configuration to hard disk from the main Acer eRecovery Management screen.
Note: Fast (incremental) Backup is only available after a Full
Backup is made.

1 Press <Alt> + <F10> or select Acer eRecovery Management from the
Empowering Technology toolbar to start Acer eRecovery Management.
2 In the Acer eRecovery Management window, select the type of backup you
want to create using Full or Fast.
3 Follow the instructions on screen to complete the process.

Burn backup disc
Using the Burn Disc page of Acer eRecovery Management, you can burn the
factory default image, a user backup image, the current system configuration,
or an application backup image to CD or DVD.
1 Press <Alt> + <F10> or select Acer eRecovery Management from the
Empowering Technology toolbar to start Acer eRecovery Management.
2 Switch to the Burn Disc page by selecting the Burn Disc button.
3 Select the type of backup (factory default, user, current system,
application) you would like to burn to disc. Choosing to burn a user backup
will burn your most recently created backup image to disc.
4 Follow the instructions on screen to complete the process.
Note: Create a factory default image when you want to burn a
bootable disc that contains your computer's entire operating
system as it was delivered to you from the factory. If you wish to
have a disc that will allow you to browse the contents and install
selected drivers and applications, create an application backup
image instead — this disc will not be bootable.

Restore and recovery

The restore and recovery features allow you to restore or recover the system
from a factory default image, from a user created image, or from previously
created CD and DVD backups. You can also reinstall applications and drivers for
your Acer system.
1 Press <Alt> + <F10> or select Acer eRecovery Management from the
Empowering Technology toolbar to start Acer eRecovery Management.
2 Switch to the restore and recovery page by selecting the Restore button.
3 Select the backup point you would like to restore from. You can also
choose to recover the system from a factory default image, recover from a
previously created CD/DVD or reinstall applications and drivers.
4 Follow the instructions on screen to complete the process.

Prior to re-installing your OS, backup all your documents..
Insert your recovery disk cd on the cd rom drive and reboot your pc.

As it reboots press any key to continue so it will boot from cd and delete the partition, create a partition and active it.

Then install the OS which goes to C:\ drive. After the installation is complete install all the drivers and the applications. You can go to the manufacturer's website and download others drivers as needed.

Activate Windows then go to Microsoft Update
