Question about Keyboards & Mice

1 Answer

Marv_han 1) Can you tell me what type of cd-drive you have to do this go: MY COMPUTER> and look at what the cd drive says EG: DVD-RAM, CD/DVD, DVD/CD-RW DRIVE Etc. 2)What type of keyboard are you using (NAME) to find out go: START> MYCOMPUTER (Right Click)> MANAGE> And on the left look for 'DEVICEMANAGER' (Click On It). 1- i'm not sure about that. i mean because actually there is 2 cd drive in there (after i installed Daemon Tools). now there is only 1 that is DVD drive. i think the other one that should be there is CD-RW and now its gone. note that sometimes both appear. 2- standard 101/102-Key or microsoft natural ps/2 keyboard

Thanks For Your Quick Response! Appreciated alot!!

1) Your CD Drive may not be recieving enough power if it freezes or it can not recognize the CD Inserted.

Plug you computer into the AC Charger and close any unused programs to let more power go to the CD Drive.

If this does not help, Your CD drive may be dieing but this is fairly rare.

2) Try downloading this program for your Keyboard, it may be an update for your Keyboard Driver or it may repair any parts corrupted on the driver.

By the way, if the keyboard CONTINUES to stuff up (AS I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ONCE, BUT WAS SOLVED BY RESTARTING A FEW TIMES)

Then it might be our motherboard that's faulty, If you think it is your motherboard THEN take it to a computer store and have it checked out...

Hope This Fixes Your Problem, P3NGYJ03

Computer only buzzes doesnt get past start up page

Buzzing usually means one of two things: you have a bad CD/DVD in the CD/DVD drive (which would not usually interfere with booting up so that's probably not it in this case) or you have a bad hard disk. Try putting your Windows installation CD into the CD drive and booting from that. If the computer boots successfully, you have a bad hard disk. In that case, you will probably have to get a new drive and take the old one to a pro to recover any important data.

How to install windows xp

To install Windows XP :

Required items
1: Windows XP CD ( SP 1/2/3 )/ Windows XP setup in a USB drive ( please ensure that you have made the USB bootable or it won't be detected )
2: CD Rom Drive ( if you want to install by CD )
3: USB Drive ( if you want to install by USB )

For a fresh install , follow the following steps accordingly :

1: Insert the CD into the Drive and restart the PC.
2: Note that your boot settings in the bios settings are correct (i.e 1st Boot priority CD drive if you are installing with CD and 1st boot priority USB if you are installing with Pendrive ).

3: Follow the steps shown on the screen which will throw a couple of options and settings.

4: Click on ' Install a fresh copy of Windows ' when asked for.
5: Select the drive in which you want to install it , it will be formatted and new windows installation would take place in that same drive.
6: Set your date and time region , enter the serial key when asked for.
7: The whole process should take around 45 minutes.

You are done installing it..Congrats!

Kindly note that installing any version of Windows by USB is always quicker than installing by CD/DVD.

My pc is turning off

Desktop or Laptop computer ?

Test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/f/powersupplytest.htm

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle of restarting or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data cables IDE SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your dvd\cd floppy drives have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

computers need power and data to travel through every working device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

even something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you problems

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

check you CPU central processing unit make sure its securely seated and has thermal paste it might be getting to hot the thermal paste will help disperse the heat

Thermal compound is a sticky paste that is placed directly onto the CPU.

Allowing for a more direct heat transfer between the CPU and HEAT SINK and preventing air gaps from forming between the CPU and heat sink.

hope this helps

Keyboard doesnt type certain keys e.g. when pressing 'e' i will get My Computer pop up?

This can be solved by reset:---
  1. Place the first CD, labeled CD 1, into the CD drive of your computer.
  2. Press the power button to turn on your computer.
  3. Hit the ESC key on your keyboard when you see the prompt at the bottom of your screen. (This will appear before your operating system begins to boot.)
  4. Hit the down arrow key on your keyboard to select “CD ROM.” This will allow you to boot from the CD that contains the factory settings for your computer.
  5. Hit "Enter."
  6. Follow the prompts by clicking "OK." Your computer will inform you that taking this action will erase all saved data on your computer. Click "OK."
  7. Insert the next CD-ROM into your computer when prompted. Continue to do this until your computer asks you to reboot.
  8. Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer. Follow the prompts provided by your operating-system setup program. At this point, you will be able to name your computer, register and set up your desktop.
This will solve the problem. Thank you Sir, have a nice day.
