Good news! You can go here to order the recovery discs for your computer (assuming it is the SR1503wm). Click on the "XP Home SP2 53NAheRED1 + Supp 4 Recovery Kit" and follow the instructions. Oh and don't forget to give this solution a fixya rating. Thanks!

Factory reset compaq presario cq60

I assume you don't have a recovery CD.
So look on your hard drive maybe there is already a second partition for recovery.
Search in programs for recovery solution.
If you don't find anything, try to restart and wait for the HP or Compaq Logo and press F10 repeatedly, follow the instructions and computer will restart if finished with recovery.

MY COMPAQ PRESARIO WHEN TRYING TO RECOVERY STUCK AT 26%

I've seen this happen multiple times when a hard drive is failing and getting frequent I/O errors. Unfortunately, the fix is to replace the hard drive and restore the system from DVD or CD recovery media.

Hopefully, you created recovery disks and stored them away for a rainy day such as this. If not, you can usually purchase recovery disks from the manufacturer for a (hopefully) reasonable price.

Compaq presario cq61 will not stay turned on.

For this kind of issue, please follow up the following steps to check:

1.confirm the battery and ac adapter connect the laptop normally.Maybe the bad connect lead to this problem. If there are no lights when you turn on laptop, one of possible reason is that your adapter is malfunction.

2.the second possible cause is laptop dc jack failure. If the dc jack is broken or loose, you are required to replace it or repair it.

3.Another possible reason is that there is something wrong with laptop motherboard. For this situation, it includs two kinds of possibility,a failure in an electronic circuit and BGA malfunction.

For more detailed reasons and solutions, please have a look at the following article:

If you verify your laptop adapter is dead and you plan to order a new one, I recommend one for you on the basis of your laptop model:

I cant open windows it stops at the microsoft bar

Ok, you should have a recovery program that will sort this out.

If you have a recovery CD, just insert it as soon as you turn it on, and it will then boot from the CD. Just follow the on screen instructions.

If you don't have a recovery CD, you may have a recovery partition on your hard drive. For this you need to enter your BIOS/settings screen. When you turn on the laptop, keep pressing F2. If this doesn't work, and Windows tries to load, switch it off, and try again by pressing Del.

When you are looking at the BIOS screen, you should have along the top, some page options (Something like, Information, Main, Security, Boot and Exit). Using the arrows on the keyboard, move over to Main. Now, somewhere on the screen should be something called D2D Recovery, or something similar. Highlight it and make sure it's Enabled. Also, when you highlight it, on the right habd side of the screen it will list Item Specific Help, and this will tell you what keys you need to press, this is normally Alt + F10. Now move over to exit and select Exit Saving Changes. This will then restart the laptop. As soon as it restarts, keep pressing the keys that it listed on the BIOS screen. Follow the on screen instructions.

Hope this helps.

Recovery drive

Usually (since drive d is another partition) you would boot to it by means of startup, the laptop should say something about, to enter a menu here press F6 or something similar. So when your computer turns on, press the f12, or f8 or f2 keys and see if it gives you a menu (the recovery option would most likely be in there). Beware to PLEASE backup your files before formating and turning everything back to as it was :) . Also, you should seriously consider asking Compaq for a recovery DVD, they are usually free and they are livesavers if something goes wrong with the partition on your lappy.
