Question about Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Notebook

Powers up does not boot

Sony Vaio PCG-K35 will power up and go dark w/flashing curser. If I power up holding the F12 it says "SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: TOSHIBA MK8025GAS-(PM) Warning immediatly back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press E1 to Continue" When I press F1, it throws up a short diagnostic screen saying For Reltek RTL8139(x)/8130/810x PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2.12 (010817), PXE-E61: Media test failure, Check cable, PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM. Then pressing any other key return a beep from computer. Sometimes it does not even throw up the diagnostic screen it just goes blank with the curser. Any suggestions would be VERY appreciated!

Thank You SO much for any help offered!

I have a sony vaio pcg. it powers on and does nothing else. the 2 little cooling fans come on but the hard drive doesn't run and screen won't come on. can anyone help me out. thanks

Hello,

Its possible that you already have a bad hard drive. It may have crashed. Your system will not boot without the hard drive running. The computer will keep on trying to look for the Hard drive that's probably why it looks like its doing nothing. Bring your machine to sony and have them fix it. If you know how to open up your Vaio, try to check the Hard drive connection and see it its loose, if its not loose. its time to replace the hard drive.

I hope this helps. Thanks and have a nice day.

How to format sony vaio pcg-4 series

Boot from the "System Restore" CD-ROM.
One of the "setup" options for XP (or for Vista) is to "format" the entire disk-space, before continuing with the re-install.

I want to upgrade my ram what type of ram should i use and how what is the maximum amount of ram i can upgrade to?

Hi,
Memory Upgrade for Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop, the Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed. For best Laptop performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your Laptop.

Wont boot up when plugged in but boots from battery

When you plug it in, does it show that the battery is charging? If not, then the DC Power socket has failed on the laptop, so a new power supply would not fix the problem.

The manufacturer will tell you to replace the motherboard, however the DC power sockets are readily available, and relatively easy to fit.

Won't stay on

IS THIS WITH BOTH AC CORD AND BATTERY
you probably need a power supply
before you run out and buy one start and press f8 then start in safemode see if the same thing happens
also make sure your AC adapter is connecting with internal connection the internal connection can become loose or bent from constant plugging and unplugging
